Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260308-E307A-2147322869. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Galaxy S25 Ultra SM-S938UZSEXAA (Galaxy S25 Ultra 512GB (Unlocked) SM-S938UZSEXAA, IMEI1[REDACTED]). Incident: On February 14, 2026, while charging my Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra (purchased 12/1/25) under normal conditions, the device began to smoke and experienced a thermal event. The phone became extremely hot and the charging port burned and partially melted. This occurred while using a high-quality USB-C cable. There were no warning signs prior to the combustion. The phone was not dropped or physically damaged before this incident. I immediately unplugged the device to prevent a larger residential fire. Samsung's subsequent evaluation confirmed damage to the charging port, yet they have refused to acknowledge this as a product safety defect. Since my initial report, I have received an official Service Repair Statement from Samsung (attached) which provides the following technical evidence: Official Diagnosis: Samsungs own technicians have now officially documented the "Problem Found" as "Unit Overheating". Extent of Thermal Damage: The overheating event was severe enough to require the replacement of the LCD Assembly and three separate camera modules (Ultra-Wide, Telephoto 12M, and Telephoto 50M). Merchant Contradiction: Despite this internal finding of "Unit Overheating," Samsung's claims department is currently blaming a "third-party charger" to deny a refund, even though the same charger functions saf
