Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260314-24416-2147322674. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: GE JB735SP3SS (GE electric stove/range with air fryer feature). Incident: I was using the air fryer feature of this stove under normal cooking conditions. While operating, the oven suddenly exploded and caught on fire. The incident occurred while cooking sweet potato fries in the air fryer. The stove was set to Air Frye at 400 degrees F (with no preheat necessary) and had been in operation @3-5 minutes when the explosion occurred. There was a loud bang and immediate fire in the oven. The circuit breaker in my house did not go off. The oven caught on fire and flames were shooting out of the oven. I was able to extinguish the fire and fortunately there were no injuries. There was smoke throughout my house and the stove is totally inoperable. There is soot throughout the entire oven. This incident was extremely stressful to me.
