Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260331-3FE45-2147321119. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Uniden SDS100. Incident: I purchased a uniden sds100 handheld scanner on February 8 2025. On march 30 2026 I picked up the scanner to read and listen to a local fire call and the battery cover blew off and the battery fell out. Looking at the white smoke from the battery I put it the sink and filled it with water. This morning I put it in an ashtray on my porch. I've included photos and the sales information from Amazon. In this email. I contacted Amazon who advised me to call uniden for a replacement. However they offer no help. This battery is a serious issue after I did some research on line. It's a huge safety problem for the way this thing blew up in my hand.
