Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260404-E63EA-2147320995. Severity: No Incident, No Injury. Product: hover-1 Alpha (hover-1 Alpha electric scooter in black Upc: 888255230218 MFG date: 11/21 Ref id: 20211130EL BT ID: D044966 FCC ID: 2AANZALPHA21M). Incident: I bought an electric scooter for my boyfriend on Thursday March 19th. We charged it on friday for the full 5 hours it says to in the instructions. My boyfriend took it out for a ride on Saturday following all of the safety instructions listed in the manual. It performed subpar with far less miles ran than it said it should then died without warning him the battery was low. He chose to plug it in for the second time once he finished walking it home. It had been charging for 2 and a half of the 5 hour required time when he heard a pop. Thankfully he got over to it as the scooter started smoking. Very shortly after it was brought outside and the fire department was called it burst into flames entirely. We were told by the fire fighters that the entire 6 townhome complex most likely would have burnt down if my boyfriend hadn't gotten the scooter outside before the fire started
