Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260407-76789-2147320862. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: LG LDFN4542D (LG Dishwasher with third rack in black stainless steel). Incident: Approximately a year and a half after purchase, my LG Dishwasher LDFN4542D began emitting smoke during normal operation (with the door closed) along with a noticeable burning smell. My husband turned the dishwasher off and then back on, and it again began smoking with the same burning smell. This issue was reported to LG Electronics, and I was later informed that an investigation had been conducted. However, the dishwasher was never inspected or examined. Months later, I was told the conclusion was that no safety issue had been identified. Due to the risk of fire, the dishwasher has not been used since the incident. Given that this exact model is still being sold, I am requesting that this incident be formally documented as a potential safety concern and reviewed accordingly.
