Using a calibrated multimeter (calibration traceable to ISO/IEC 17025 standards), I have confirmed the presence of measurable voltage between the dryer drum and ground. This indicates that an exposed conductive component accessible to the user is energized under normal operating conditions. This condition presents a potential electric shock hazard. The dryer drum is a user-accessible metal surface, and the presence of voltage relative to ground is not consistent with safe operation as would be reasonably expected by a consumer. Details of Hazard Voltage measured between drum and ground using a calibrated multimeter Measurement was repeatable and consistent Testing performed under normal installed operating conditions No known external wiring faults identified at time of testing Dryer is installed in a standard residential configuration Injuries or Damage At this time, I myself have been shocked but have not went for evaluation after the fact Manufacturer Response This issue has been reported directly to GE Appliances.
