Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260513-382D1-2147319395. Severity: Injury, No First Aid or Medical Attention Received. Product: SAMSUNG SM-S918ULIFXAA (Samsung S23 ultra cell phone). Incident: My Samsung S23 ultra did a software upgrade in April of 2026. Immediately after the upgrade, the battery was dying extremely fast, to the point of charging it 4 times a day compared to the previous once a day. My phone was also over heating as well. I contacted Samsung members and they did not provide any help. 2 weeks after the upgrade I noticed the baxk of my phone was separating from the frame. I noticed the battery was swollen like also called pillowing. I called Samsung and they said I had to pay to repair the phone. Even though I told them the damage was from a software upgrade from April not due to wear tear. I later emailed the CE Os office and she said that I was eligible for a 1 time repair. I EXPRESSED that the S23 is a faulty FIre Haazard due to the pillowing of the battery. I asked for a new replacement phone due to the fact that this is a major safety issue with the phone causing the phone not to be structurally sound. She only still offered a repair. I have emailed them 2 more times with no response back. In addition, I am unable to transfer my information from the s23 to an older previous phone due to the fact that it kept giving an error message. Also, I um unable to turn the s23 on without the phone getting extremely HOT. I am not comfortable keeping the s23 ultra in my house due to a fire risk. It seems Samsung is not taking this serious. There have been other reports stating that the April upgrade is causing battery problems.
