Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260530-FC5C9-2147318339. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: LG Model #LREL6325F (LG instaview airfry 30 in glass top 5 burners 6.3 cu ft self cleaning Air fry convection oven freestanding smart electric range ( printproof stainless steel.). Incident: I have a range that has been experiencing issues with the left front burner. Even when the control is set to low, the burner becomes extremely hot. Because of this, I stopped using that burner and relied on the others. Recently, I turned the oven on and set it to 400F. When the oven temperature reached approximately 175F, there was a very loud noise, followed by flames filling the oven. Sparks shot out from the top of the unit beneath the control knobs, and smoke quickly filled the kitchen. I immediately covered the appliance with a fire blanket and turned it off, which caused the flames to subside. I then unplugged the unit. The oven was clean at the time of the incident, and there was nothing inside the oven that could have caused the fire.
