Product: KITCHENAID KOED530PSS00 (KitchenAid 30" Built-In Electric Convection Double Wall Oven with Air Fry Mode, Stainless Steel. Model No. KOED530PSS00, Serial No. DD5005062. Purchased November 21, 2025 from Best Buy (delivered and installed same date). Unit is a built-in double wall oven, 30 inches wide, stainless steel finish, electric convection. Manufactured by KitchenAid, a brand of Whirlpool Corporation.). Incident: While in normal household operation, a KitchenAid 30in Double Wall Oven (Model KOED530PSS00, Serial No. DD5005062) produced a sudden, violent electrical event a loud explosive pop accompanied by a visible flash of light consistent with an electrical arc or power arc discharge emanating from inside the unit. The oven was being used for routine baking by the household residents. Family members were present in an adjacent room at the time of the event. No physical injuries occurred, however the incident represented a significant potential fire and electrical hazard. Following the event, the unit failed to heat properly and has never been restored to safe, reliable operation despite six warranty service visits by an authorized repair provider between January and May 2026, during which the oven relay, temperature sensor, bake element, and control board were all replaced. The underlying electrical defect has never been resolved, and the risk of recurrence potentially resulting in fire remains a serious concern.
