Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260603-8209D-2147318075. Severity: No Incident, No Injury. Product: Samsung NE63A6711SGAA (30" 6.3 cu. Ft. Smart Freestanding Electric Range with No-Preheat Air Fry, Convection+ & Griddle in Black Stainless Steel). Incident: BURNING FOOD & FIRE HAZARD My first Samsung Electric Range was purchased on December 10, 2018, and on July 1, 2023, just under 5 years of ownership, my wife informed me, while I was ill and in the hospital ICU recovering from Pneumonia, that the stove top was turning itself on, and the heat on the right front burner would flare up to high even though it was set to a lower temperature while she was cooking. I decided to order a replacement range because it was out of warranty, and my wife worrying about the house burning down. She brought my laptop from home to the hospital and I ordered the replacement directly from Samsung on July 1, 2023 along with a 5-year extended warranty. I never could have imagined that this range would still suffer from the same problem. I called for repair of the right front burner flaring up 8-months ago, September 26, 2025, and right now, since last reported on May 26, 2026, we are still waiting, now 8-days, for the technician to come back with the parts to replace the same right front burner along with the left front burner which has the same issue. I researched [REDACTED] for the life expectancy of electric ranges and the result was that they typically should last 13 to 15 years. Samsung has to be aware of this problem and still manufacturing and selling these ranges for at the very least 8-years, with parts that have proven not to last anywhere near that long, and are still shipping repair parts to warranty repair centers that obviously have not been modified to correct this issue.
