Incident narrative
SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260624-7CE07-2147315459. Severity: No Incident, No Injury. Product: PetLibro Polar Wet Food Feeder - PLAF109 (Petlibro Polar Wet Food Feeder with Stainless Steel Food Bowl, Model PLAF109. Automatic electric pet feeder with a rotating multi-bowl stainless steel tray designed to keep wet/refrigerated pet food cool and rotate fresh portions on a timed schedule. Color: black/dark gray housing with a stainless steel rotating tray insert. Power input: 12V, 5A via included AC power adapter also accepts 3 D-cell batteries as backup power. FCC ID: 2A3DE-PLAF109.). Incident: What happened: A plastic component inside the automatic pet feeder's rotating tray mechanism melted from internal heat during normal, intended use. When I removed the feeding tray, the melted plastic piece was too hot to touch. The feeder's receptacle housing is plastic and is not designed to generate or withstand this level of heat, indicating an internal electrical or mechanical malfunction. I am reporting this because I believe the product poses a fire hazard, and the manufacturer (Petlibro/Designlibro) has been unable to identify the cause after multiple weeks of correspondence and has not addressed the defect. Product type: Petlibro Polar Wet Food Feeder (Stainless Steel Food Bowl), Model PLAF109, FCC ID 2A3DE-PLAF109, 12V/5A power input. Who was using it: I am the owner and sole user/operator of the product in my home. How it was used: Used as intended, indoors, on the floor, set up and operated per the manufacturer's instructions, using the original power cord and adapter. The unit dispensed food on an automated schedule for my pet. Injuries: No injuries to people or pets occurred. However, the unit became dangerously hot during normal operation, melting an internal plastic component, which I consider a fire hazard given that the unit operates unattended on a timer and is left running for extended periods, including overnight for multiple days in a row.
