Incident narrative
SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260627-4EC98-2147314931. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: LG LREL6323S (LG 30 in. 6.3 cu. ft. Smart Wi-Fi Enabled Fan Convection Electric Range Oven with AirFry and EasyClean in. Stainless Steel, Model Number LREL6323S). Incident: My LG electric range, model number LREL6323S, has a burner that repeatedly overheats while I am cooking food on it. While an electric cooktop, burner should cycle on and off depending on the setting level, this one will occasionally and unexpectedly cycle on and remain on indefinitely. This has ruined many food items and a few pots and pans. However, on one occasion it overheated a pan of oil, which began smoking so much that it was apparent that it would soon catch fire. It was serviced once under warranty, but that did not solve the problem. During my research into the problem, I observed on several platforms that many consumers are reporting the very same problem with LG ranges and I learned that the issue is caused by a faulty element control switch (part number EBF62174907), which was what was replaced during the warranty service mentioned above. While I searched multiple appliance parts sites, I noticed that many of them listed that part as the most commonly purchased part for LG electric ranges. Clearly, this range model and any other model that uses this control part is a fire hazard. The approximate occurrence date I am providing is just the first of several (hundreds) of occurrences. The most recent incident was on 06/26/2026.
