Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260705-44200-2147314426. Matched catalog product: LG LSE4611ST. Incident: On July 4, 2026, I placed a plastic microwave splatter lid on top of my LG electric range (Model LSE4611ST). I leaned over the cooktop to use the over-the-range microwave above it, and in doing so my body contacted one of the front-mounted control knobs, turning it roughly a quarter-inch enough to activate the burner. I did not realize it had turned on. I left the kitchen, and shortly after noticed a strong smell: the plastic lid had melted on the activated burner and filled my home with smoke.
