Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260710-28E13-6144473. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: whirlpool WFE770H0SZ1 (Electric Stove). Incident: On June 28th, she was preparing to bake a cake and had already preheated the oven. Shortly thereafter, she noticed an unusual smell. She inspected the stove but did not observe anything out of the ordinary. Moments later, smoke began to come out of the appliance. She immediately turned off the breaker switch, and with her husband's assistance, removed the stove from the house. Upon examination, they discovered that the back panel of the stove had melted and the internal wiring had burned. The stove was in near-new condition. Fortunately, no property damage occurred and no one was injured. She is requesting that the company conduct a thorough investigation to ensure that their appliances do not pose a danger to consumers. She has photographs documenting the damage. She is certain that if she had stepped away, the stove could have caused a fire capable of burning down her home. I was going to bake a cake, I preheated by stove to 350 I smelled something hot. I opened oven did not smell anything. Turned off the oven. Turned the oven to preheat again to rapid preheat to 350, I was greasing my cake pans smelled as electric fire, turned around and heavy smoke was coming out of my stove below the back of stove up my wall and around front of dials, my husband was not here. With 1 pull I had my stove pulled out, very heavy smoke below dials + up back of stove at wall. Sutt all over stove. I ran to breaker box turned off, + unplugged stove. The stove was at 130 preheat when this happened. Sutt all over stove, I believe within my heart if I would have walked off to let my stove preheat
