Incident narrative
SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260710-D580F-2147314122. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Samsung NSG6DG8500SRAA (Samsung 30-Inch Smart Gas Range with Bespoke Design, Slide-In installation, and 6.0 Cubic Feet Oven Capacity. It features a stainless steel exterior, a digital control panel on the front, and a built-in temperature sensor system.). Incident: On June 20, 2026, a brand-new Samsung Gas Range, Model NSG6DG8500SRAA, purchased on May 9, 2026, and delivered on May 18, 2026, suffered a catastrophic temperature sensor failure during normal operation. This failure resulted in an active fire and heavy smoke in our kitchen, terrifying my 10-year-old kid and leaving a toxic, hazardous burnt odor in our multi-generational home for over a week. On June 26, 2026, a certified technician dispatched by Samsung physically inspected the unit and officially documented the root cause in writing as a definitive manufacturer defect: Temp sensor error. Product issue. Despite this written admission of a severe safety hazard from their own licensed technician, Samsung customer service department has acted in gross negligence. They have flatly refused to replace or refund this fire hazard. Instead, they are attempting to delay accountability and manipulate the evidence by demanding a secondary inspection to override their own technician safety report. This corporate refusal to mitigate an active fire hazard in a consumer home is entirely unacceptable and poses an immediate threat to public safety.
