Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260720-4999A-2147313629. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Samsung NX60A6511SS (Samsung Free standing Gas range Black and silver color Dimensions Width: 29.9Depth: 28.7Height: 46.3Weight: 185). Incident: Around 3:30 AM, my family was awakened by the kitchen fire alarm. My wife ran to the kitchen and yelled for help because our Samsung Gas Oven was actively on fire, with flames pouring out of it. Inside the oven cavity, a wooden cutting board was completely engulfed in flames, and a plastic container sitting on top of the board had melted. The kitchen was filled with thick smoke. To save our home, my wife dragged the burning wooden board to the sink to douse it, and I rushed a flaming piece of metal out to the garage to safely extinguish it, it was the most frightening moment of our lives. We immediately unplugged the unit to cut power and stop the electronic gas valves from operating. The next day, my son plugged the stove back into the wall to test it while recording a video. The moment he turned the oven setting on, the machine immediately bypassed normal temperature controls and automatically forced the gas burners straight to maximum high heat on its own. We have clear video evidence of this automatic electronic failure. The stove remains completely disconnected from power and gas. Samsung sent a technician who refused to remove the motherboard, test the hardware, or run diagnostics, stating he "did not feel comfortable" due to a pest visual. Samsung Specialty Claims (Adjuster [REDCATED]) used this incomplete inspection to deny our fire liability claim. I am filing this report because an uncontrolled electronic failure commanding gas valves to lock on maximum high heat is a catastrophic explosion hazard, and the manufacturer is using a visual pest excuse to avoid pullin
