Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260720-A4907-2147313671. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Frigidaire FHPC142AA1 (Frigidaire 3-in-1 Smart Portable Room Air Conditioner with Wi-Fi 14,000 BTU (ASHRAE) / 10,000 BTU (DOE), Cools Up to 700 Sq. Ft., Quiet Operation, White). Incident: Product: Frigidaire Portable Air Conditioner Issue: Melted electrical prong / discontinued critical safety part Retailer: Amazon Manufacturer: Frigidaire I purchased a Frigidaire portable air conditioner from Amazon. The manufacturer states that the cord is no longer manufactured and instructs consumers not to contact them about this part. This means the product cannot be repaired or safely used, and the defective electrical component cannot be replaced. Amazon continues to sell the same model (or materially identical units) to consumers, even though the product contains a critical electrical part that has been discontinued and cannot be replaced if it fails. The melted prong indicates a potential electrical defect that could lead to fire, shock, or property damage. The manufacturers refusal to support or replace a critical safety component, combined with ongoing retail sales of the unit, raises concerns about
