Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260723-4CFDF-2147313488. Severity: Injury, Emergency Department Treatment Received. Product: JNHCD Unsure (Smoke and carbo dioxide detectors JNHCD Combination Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Detectors). Incident: On Christmas Day 2025, my rental home caught fire and was ultimately destroyed. The fire department classified the cause of the fire as undetermined. I had JNHCD combination smoke and carbon monoxide detectors installed in the home that I purchased through Amazon in July 2024. During the fire, the smoke alarms did not sound or otherwise alert the occupants. In July 2026, I received an Amazon Product Safety Alert and learned that the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission had warned consumers to stop using these detectors because they may fail to warn of smoke and fire hazards. I am submitting this report because the detectors in my home did not sound during the fire, and I was unaware of the potential safety issue until I received the warning several months after the incident. I have documentation of my Amazon purchase, the product safety warning, and the fire report.
