Incident narrative
SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260723-D3790-2147313486. Matched catalog product: Frigidaire FFIF 3054 T89. Source model text: LFEF3054TDS. Incident: On July 23, 2026, our Frigidaire electric range (Model: LFEF3054TDS) experienced a sudden, spontaneous, and violent explosion of the outer oven door glass panel. The oven was completely off and cooling down after I had finished baking prior to the incident. This was not a passive cracking or crumbling of tempered glass. The panel imploded with massive force, making a loud sound resembling an explosion. Glass shards and high-velocity debris were propelled forcefully across the entire kitchen floor. My partner was standing in the vicinity and was struck directly by the flying glass fragments. While they fortunately avoided severe lacerations or emergency medical hospitalization, the velocity of the flying debris created an immediate and extreme physical hazard. The fact that this happened while the oven was completely turned off and cooling down makes it exceptionally dangerous. Had either of us been directly in front of the range window at the exact moment of failure, we would have been seriously injured and hospitalized without a doubt. The force of the flying glass demonstrates a severe manufacturing defect that poses an immediate risk of injury to consumers.
