Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260731-4CB72-2147313109. Severity: Injury, No First Aid or Medical Attention Received. Matched catalog product: Kidde Smoke Alarm model P4010DCS-W and p4010DCSCO-W. Source model text: 900-CUAR. Incident: I have a Kidde 900-CUAR smoke/CO detection system in my house comprised of 5 detectors. The Kidde system was manufactured in Feb 2023. Not only did the entire system false alarm at 3:45am this morning - it was sooo loud it was PAINFUL. In fact my ears are still ringing indicating permanent hearing damage. Not to mention how unbelievably dangerous to be so excessively loud that it's disorientating, if not very disorientating. Why are these fire/smoke/CO detector companies still being allowed to make detectors that sound off so loud they're disorientating and cause hearing damage?? This is an unbelievably stupid problem that's been allowed to go on far too long.
