Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260805-4102C-2147312838. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Amana NTW4519JW2 (Amana top-load washing machine, white color, standard residential size.). Incident: Wednesday 7/29/26. The factory-authorized service technician disassembled the washing machine and left the appliance with exposed electrical wiring, an open component housing, and visible carbon soot from an electrical burnout fully exposed in my residential living space. The main control board suffered a catastrophic component burnout at the R69 power regulation resistor and the wiring harness loop due to a cascading hardware failure documented in Whirlpool Service Pointer W11766193 (Rev E). This underlying control board defect caused the drain pump to run continuously until the pump motor completely failed, overheated, and suffered a final hardware burnout, creating an active fire risk. On Thursday, I sent explicit photographic evidence of this uncontained hazard directly to the Whirlpool Executive Office. On Friday evening at approximately 6:00 PM, an Executive Representative placed an inbound call to my phone line. She completely dismissed the physical safety risk and ignored the symptom of the completely failed, burnt-out drain pump, claiming that what I was telling her 'wasn't part of the service pointer.' When confronted with the danger of leaving live, uncontained electrical components open in a home, she stated she did not know if it was protocol to put the housing back together and reassemble it. A search of the SaferProducts.gov database reveals an undeniable, documented pattern of identical failures for this exact Amana model (NTW4519JW2), proving widespread corporate knowledge of the risk.
