Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260813-B0A50-2147312498. Severity: No Incident, No Injury. Product: Lg LSEL6333F.ORSLLGA (The product suffers from a severe mechanical design defect in the front-mounted burner knobs. The knobs require almost no inward force to depress and lack sufficient rotational resistance. Because of this loose, hair-trigger mechanism, the slightest physical contact, such as brushing past the stove, leaning against the control panel, or a pet stepping near it, easily engages and turns on the burners without the user's knowledge.A properly designed appliance requires a deliberate, multi-step physical action (a firm push-in followed by a heavy turn) to activate. This unit's hardware lacks these industry-standard mechanical safeguards. The ease with which these physical switches can be bypassed by accidental friction makes the appliance inherently defective, unpredictable, and a constant fire hazard in a standard household environment. The unit cannot be operated safely in its current physical configuration.). Incident: The product suffers from a severe mechanical design defect in the front-mounted burner knobs.
