Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260814-D9A6B-2147312416. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Samsung Model #RF32CG5400SR (Product Category: Home Appliances Product Type: Refrigerator / Freezer (Major Appliance) Brand Name: Samsung Manufacturer / Importer: Samsung Electronics America, Inc. Model Name or Number: RF32CG5400SR Serial Number: 0BXJ4BCY603526B). Incident: PRODUCT TYPE & USE: The product is a standard residential kitchen French-door refrigerator/freezer (Samsung Model RF32CG5400SR) used daily for household food and medical supply storage. It was plugged into a standard kitchen outlet and being used under normal operating conditions. The technician verbally confirmed the dangerous electrical ground fault and stated that a product buyout/refund was the only safe course of action. However, the manufacturer's corporate office overrode the safety diagnosis, refused the buyout, and ordered a heavy mechanical parts rebuild on an inherently shorted electrical chassis. Overnight, at 2:42 AM on August 13, 2026, the manufacturer's automated system unilaterally canceled the active service ticket (#[REDACTED]) and falsified the internal code reason as a minor "Accessory Issue" to erase the digital tracking path of this electrical failure. INJURY AND POTENTIAL INJURY DETAILS: No physical injuries have occurred yet, but severe injuries may have happened or could still happen. An active ground short means raw voltage leaks directly into the appliance's exterior metal frame, creating an immediate, severe electrical shock/electrocution hazard to anyone touching the handle, as well as a structural fire risk. Furthermore, the t
