Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260818-5E746-2147312237. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Samsung NE63A6511SSAA 02 (ESTUFA SAMSUNG. COLOR PLATA Y NEGRO. Model: NE63A6511SSAA 02 Serial Number: 0J407DAX300507V Purchase date: May 22, 2024 Purchased from: Lowes item number: 3648606). Incident: On 08 / 12/2026. our Samsung electric range caught fire while no one was actively using it. I was at home working in my garage when the smoke alarms went off. When I went inside, the kitchen was filled with heavy black smoke, and the visibility was very poor. The range and the area around it were badly damaged, including the control panel and a kitchen hood, and there was smoke damage to the kitchen cabinets. Before the fire, one of the range knobs had behaved unusually. It did not remain aligned with the other knobs and made an unusual sound when it was turned on. I had also noticed that the knobs could be activated by light contact while cleaning. I cannot determine the exact cause of the fire, but because the fire occurred with the range and its controls involved, I am reporting this incident as a potential product safety issue. Samsung has reviewed my claim, but denied responsibility and stated that the only option available is a repair that I would have to pay for out of pocket. I have photographs and video of the incident and the damage. No one was injured. However, when I discovered the fire, there was so much smoke that it was difficult to see and breathe normally.
