Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260824-600D9-2147311955. Severity: No Incident, No Injury. Product: Keurig K Supreme (Keurig K-Supreme coffee machine). Incident: Letter to the manufacturer: Dear Keurig Consumer Care & Safety Team, I am writing to report a serious safety incident and thermal failure involving my Keurig brewer. I attempted to call your customer service line today, but was informed the phone system was down. Incident Details: On the morning of Friday Aug 21, we went to make a cup of hot water with no pod using tap water and the unit immediately began pouring heavy smoke out of the bottom dispense area. The smoke escalated rapidly and began filling our kitchen. I managed to safely unplug the machine and carry it outside to our driveway, where smoke continued to accelerate heavily and flames visible inside the main housing took hold. I had to pour multiple pitchers of water on the unit in the driveway to fully extinguish the fire and stop the smoke. Fortunately, there was no structural home damage beyond a strong burning plastic smell indoors, but this was a severe fire hazard. This unit was purchased from Keurig in 2022. Someone from your company called earlier today and told me it was not under warranty any longer and offered me a discount on a new unit. That was insulting considering what my family went through and what could have happened if this had progressed any quicker. I simply wanted a replacement unit and Im happy to return the damaged unit. Unit Information: Serial Number: 29.C11B.0035680 I still have the damaged unit stored outside in my possession. Please escalate this case to your Safety and Risk Management team immediately so we can arrange for the unit to be returned for engineering analysis and issue a
