Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260904-AF447-2147310583. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: LG LG LTE4815ST (Model: LG LTE4815ST Range, electric). Incident: My pet accidentally activated one of the front-mounted control knobs on the range when no one was home. The heating element became energized, and a smoldering fire occurred filling the house with smoke. Luckily someone came home right as the burning items on the stove were starting to ignite and turned off the oven. We were home the entire day and the oven/stovetop were not used. The smoke started within 15 minutes of us leaving the home as seen on camera. No one was in the home, except for the dogs. Thankfully the dogs had a doggie door and went outside when the fire alarm went off so there were no injuries but there was significant property damage. After the incident, I discovered my range is within the LG/CPSC recall concerning accidental activation of the front-mounted knobs by humans or pets. It appears my serial number is not included within the recall, however it is the same model and identical issue relating to the recall.
