Incident narrative
SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260910-C90B0-2147310312. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Husqvarna BLI200 (Lithium ion battery for Husqvarna equipment.). Incident: I had all my property stored in a closet at my landlords. I was scheduled to pick up my property August 29, 2026. It had been stored since May 2026. On August 28, 2026 I received notice that my property was on fire. The fire was put out, but all of my property was lost. Luckily the fire department was there in 3 mins to put the fire out, which they did, and saved the home and potentially lives, not to mention the potential for the fire to have spread to the wilderness. The likely cause of the fire was a Husqvarna BLI200 for my chainsaw and weedwacker. This battery had been replaced by Husqvarna dealer in February 2023 when the original battery caught fire and nearly caused similar destruction. I had the original battery stored in a [REDACTED] case, which suffocated the batterys ignition and surely saved my potential for losses. The BLI200s were not being used nor being charged. The BLI200s were well cared for and stored in controlled climate situations. In 2023 I contacted Husqvarna and they assured me it was safe and an investigator was following up with the original dealer who I had purchased the battery and equipment from and returned the battery to in February 2023. Husqvarna dismissed my further inquiries and now wont return my call.
