Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260910-E4432-2147310307. Severity: Injury, No First Aid or Medical Attention Received. Product: EnginStar R150 Portable Power Station 155Wh - 150W Peak (Brand: EnginStar * Model: R150 Portable Power Station (155Wh / 150W Peak Lithium-ion Battery) Gray color with gold sides). Incident: On Sept 7, 2026, at approximately 12:00 p.m., I placed my EnginStar R150 Portable Power Station (155Wh / 150W Peak Lithium-ion Battery) on its charger to charge overnight. Approximately two hours later, I woke up and observed fire/flames shooting from the rear of the power station. I immediately went to the unit and attempted to extinguish the fire. During the incident, the power station suddenly exploded. In an effort to prevent the fire from continuing, I picked up the power station by its built-in handle and moved it toward the sink so that I could use water to extinguish the remaining fire. During this process, I sustained a minor burn to my foot and sprained a toe. The incident occurred while the power station was being charged and resulted in an unexpected fire followed by an explosion. The product was not intentionally damaged or misused prior to the incident. I am documenting this incident because the product presented a significant fire and explosion hazard while charging and caused physical injury and property damage. I am requesting that the incident be formally documented and investigated, including whether the product or charging system had a defect or safety issue that contributed to the fire and explosion. I have retained the product and charging equipment, to the extent safely possible, and can provide photographs, purchase information, and documentation of the injuries and any property damage resulting from the incident.
