Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260912-60DBB-2147310158. Severity: No Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Kidde Smoke Alarm model P4010DCS-W and p4010DCSCO-W. Source model text: 20SAR. Incident: I have a Kidde Model 20SAR smoke detector which has failed in the middle of the night. In the middle of the night while everyone was sleeping, it failed into full alarm mode and the interconnected system triggered all other alarms in the residence to go off. Then after 2 times, it stopped. Then it went full alarm mode again on and off for 30 minutes until it was disconnected and the batteries replaced. This is the third time this has happened with these model detectors. 2 months ago I already replaced another detector in the system because of this issue. These false alarms result in nuisance alarms and cause consumers to pull down the detectors
