Incident narrative

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260915-FDA20-2147309967. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Samsung NE63CB831512AA (Samsung electric range bespoke). Incident: "I was using the large burner on my 2023 Samsung Bespoke electric range (Model NE63CB831512AA). I explicitly turned the physical knob to the 'Low' setting, and the digital indicator display confirmed it was set to 'Low.' Shortly after, the burner malfunctioned and went to maximum 'High' heat on its own, completely unregulated. The digital indicator still falsely displayed that the burner was on 'Low.' The element stayed locked on full blast, causing the pot to violently boil over and burn the bottom of the cookware. I had to physically intervene to prevent a kitchen fire. The burner suffered an internal electrical or mechanical switch failure, delivering continuous 240V power to the element regardless of the user setting or the control display. This model is already under an active CPSC recall for knob safety, but this incident represents a severe, separate internal component fire hazard." Had to turn off breaker switch off.
