Thrown connecting rod / engine failure

Connecting rod, engine block

14 months

Stock 2025 Mustang GT Premium purchased new threw a rod at 6,941 miles after about 14 months and four dealer oil changes. On the highway at about 85 mph, white smoke and an oil puddle appeared; the selling dealer confirmed a thrown rod. After a dispute over a $6,700 engine inspection authorization, a second Ford dealer obtained warranty approval without that inspection fee, reporting the rod disconnected from the crank and entered the block.
