Software/Recall-Induced Performance Degradation

high voltage battery, fuel/propulsion system

The 2023 Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4xe was recalled multiple times for a high-voltage battery fire risk due to a faulty battery design. Each recall applied a software patch rather than a physical fix. Following the latest recall (68C), the traction battery power output was capped so severely that highway driving became unsafe: acceleration bogs down under battery-only power, and when the engine engages there is a significant pause before power resumes. The owner reports the vehicle no longer performs as it did when purchased and is requesting either a physical remedy restoring original specs or a full buyback.
