Smart Key System, automatic door locking system, driver's side window

The vehicle automatically locked itself after the driver's door closed, despite the smart key being inside the vehicle. The owner had stepped outside briefly and was unable to re-enter. A child was trapped inside in a rear safety seat. The owner was forced to break the driver's side window to rescue the child. No warning lights or messages were present prior to the incident. The Smart Key System either failed to detect the key's presence inside the vehicle or improperly permitted the doors to lock with the key inside.
