While slowing to near-stop at a roundabout, the vehicle began accelerating uncontrollably despite the brake pedal being fully applied. The car struck another vehicle, then rapidly increased speed, crossed lanes, hit a curb and a large brick planter, and became wedged between two parked vehicles. Brake lights were confirmed on by witnesses throughout the incident. No audible or visual warnings were triggered during the unintended acceleration event. After the crash, the front airbags failed to deploy; only the driver-side curtain airbag deployed. The vehicle was totaled, one occupant sustained a fractured tibia requiring surgery, and multiple other vehicles were damaged.

Shortly after purchasing the vehicle used at around 8,000 miles, the Integrated Charging Control Unit (ICCU) failed without prior warning. Upon re-entering the vehicle after a grocery stop, warning messages appeared indicating electrical system and power supply issues. The vehicle was no longer driveable and had to be towed to a dealer, where a Hyundai-certified technician confirmed the ICCU failure and the need for replacement.

The Highway Driving Assist system, which steers and centers the vehicle in the lane, disengages without adequate warning. The only indicator is a small green steering wheel icon on the dash cluster turning grey and blinking, with no audible chime. The owner reported multiple instances of unnoticed disengagement while driving on the highway, including one incident where the system disengaged during a turn, causing the vehicle to hit the rumble strip and requiring a corrective swerve. The owner was attentive with hands on the wheel but was relying on the system to handle the turn. Multiple other owners have reportedly confirmed the same issue.

While driving at higher speeds, the vehicle occasionally lost motive power and displayed a 'Smart Smooth Cruise Control Conditions Not Met' warning on the instrument panel. Restarting the vehicle temporarily resolved the issue, but the failure recurred. A dealer diagnosed an unknown electrical failure and attempted a repair, but the problem returned. On a second dealer visit, the cause could not be determined and the vehicle was not repaired.
