Decathlon Quechua leather hiking boots used only occasionally for winter Himalayan hikes (~handful of days/year). Owner cleaned, waxed, stored dry in original box with paper stuffing. After ~8 years, midsole turned white/chalky, cracked, and crumbled while leather upper still looked nearly new and outsole showed little wear. Photos attached in the Reddit gallery post.
