SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20240514-6A1B0-2147339220. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Anova AN900-10. Incident: I have a very serious situation with an ANOVA Precision Oven, and I believe the issue was not properly taken care of by ANOVA's customer service. I provided photos of the melted bottom of my oven and a picture of the burn spot on my countertop caused by the oven. I also provided infrared temperature readings I took of the bottom of the oven and my countertop, both in excess of 220 degrees. There was zero concern that their product, if continued to be used, may cause a house fire. Especially when the oven can be started remotely, and no one would be home to detect any initial problems. All that was offered was a 40% discount on a replacement. Why would I spend more money with a company that clearly has no regard for human safety.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20210813-D61E9-2147361120. Severity: Injury, No First Aid or Medical Attention Received. Product: Anova AN900-10 (Anova Precision Oven, model AN900-10. Anova is a subsidiary of Electrolux. UPC AN900-US00-1094-0091). Incident: Touched oven rack of Anova Precision Oven with one hand while touching oven's built-in food probe with other hand. Received small but painful electric shock. Used [REDACTED] digital multimeter with [REDACTED] leads to measure electrical potential between oven rack/oven wall and ground (0V, as required by law and electrical code!) and between food probe and ground. Food probe was found to be 33V above ground potential. Unplugged food probe and replaced with identical, factory-original Anova food probe from a different Anova Precision Oven. Confirmed 33V from food probe tip to known-good electrical ground (conduit entering my kitchen electrical panel), confirmed oven rack and walls were still properly grounded (0V to ground). Rechecked ground on outlet oven was plugged into vs neutral on same outlet - 0.1V, within normal range. Rechecked ground against large metallic water pipe - 0V. Retested over several days after running oven at 500F without steam to determine whether internal condensation or other liquid might be causing an unexpected short. Retests showed voltage of 31-33V on the probe tip, seemingly varying with input line voltage to the device (which has ranged from 121V to 124V over the past few days due to high electrical demand in our region). No value lower than 31V was observed between the probe tip and ground. Conclusion: food probe tip (and presumably food probe connection within its socket) is shorted to a source of about 33V somewhere within the oven.
