SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20191030-DF2BB-2147376861. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Frigidaire FFHS2611PFA (2015 Stainless Steel Refrigerator). Incident: We have a 2015 Frigidaire Refrigerator model number FFHS2611PFA with serial number FA53612765 that I would like to submit as a hazard to the CPSC. Complaint: We came home to find that there was a faint smell of smoke throughout our home. We could not figure out where it was coming from. Later that night, we were awoken by a loud pop sound and my husband, thankfully, came downstairs and realized the refrigerator was smoking. The flooring was red from sparks coming from underneath, and smoke had begun to consume our kitchen, causing the fire alarms to go off. My husband was able to reach behind the refrigerator and unplug it in time before an electrical fire could break out but the danger that was presented with us and 2 small children in the home is inconceivable. [REDACTED] Response: We reached out to REDACTED to rectify the issue and was told that a certified technician needed to come and figure out the cause and since our warra nty had expired in 2016, it was possible that there was nothing they would do. I explained to them that if the refrigerator had just conked out or had some type of malfunction that caused it to stop working that I agree, there would be no recourse besides us repairing it or buying a new one. However, by being simply plugged in, this appliance put our lives and home in danger due to faulty parts. Diagnosis: We did pay to have a certified technician come out to diagnose the issue and Im attaching the service notes and images from the technician in this email for reference. This was a faulty issue within the refrigerator that the tech says is very un
