My 2019 Infiniti QX50 has the KR20DDET 2.0L VC-Turbo engine involved in NHTSA Recall 25V437/Infiniti Campaign R25B2 for potential engine-bearing failure, but my VIN does not currently show an open recall. The vehicle is at Infiniti Milwaukee, [XXX], [XXX]. During inspection, bronze-colored metallic glitter/debris was found in the engine oil. This may indicate internal bearing wear and appears consistent with the metal debris that Recall 25V437 requires dealers to check for in the lower oil pan. The dealership is refusing to acknowledge or report the bronze-colored debris as possible bearing material. It reported only “engine sludge” to Infiniti and is treating the engine repair as customer-pay. Sludge and bronze-colored metallic particles are visibly different conditions. The vehicle and engine are available for inspection at the dealership. I requested preservation of the oil, filter, oil-pan contents, photographs, video and technician findings. Bearing failure could cause engine damage or loss of power while driving, increasing crash risk. Warning lights before inspection: UNKNOWN. The exact composition of the debris is UNKNOWN pending testing. You see metal debris in oil pan of the video of an engine that failed citing sledge while clearing seeing metal debris in the photo provided by the dealership. I request that NHTSA investigate whether this vehicle was incorrectly excluded from the recall and whether recall-related metallic debris is being misclassified as sludge. On March 26, 2026 my 2019 Infiniti QX50 (VIN: [XXX] ) experienced complete loss of motive power while exiting the freeway. My blind mother and [XXX] autistic son were both passengers creating a serious safety emergency for two disabled individuals. On March 28, 2026 Les Schwab Tires (Store [XXX] ) professionally documented metal shavings in the oil pan on official invoice stating ‘SHAVING IN OIL PAN’ with my VIN recorded. I brought the vehicle to Infiniti Roseville [XXX] ). Their own official inspection report R/O 101930 dated March 28, 2026 confirms: ‘REMOVED OIL PAN AND INSPECTED FOR BEARING DEBRIS. FOUND SMALL AMOUNT OF METAL SILVER COLORED.’ The report also documents my reported intermittent power loss and references two photos of the debris taken during inspection. Despite finding documented metal debris consistent with recall R25B2 bearing failure, Infiniti Roseville is denying engine replacement claiming silver colored debris does not qualify. Nissan’s published recall criteria makes no such color distinction — it states metal debris qualifies for engine repair or replacement at no charge. Warning symptoms began December 5, 2025 including headlight flickering, high pitched engine whistling, VDC warning light January 25, 2026 — all documented with timestamped photos and video. The vehicle is currently at Infiniti Roseville. I am requesting federal intervention as the dealer is not complying with recall R25B2 repair criteria and is applying internal standards that contradict Nissan’s published recall documentation INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11728318

I am filing a safety complaint regarding my 2019 Infiniti QX50 experiencing engine failure consistent with known bearing defects. On February 13, 2026, while driving from [XXX] to [XXX] on the highway, my vehicle began shaking severely, producing a rattling/knocking noise from the engine, and losing power while in motion. This created a dangerous driving condition and required the vehicle to be towed. The vehicle was taken to a repair shop in [XXX] , where it was diagnosed with engine bearing failure. The shop indicated that this issue was consistent with a known defect and that there was an active recall related to engine bearings at that time. Based on that information, the vehicle was towed to Bob Moore Infiniti in [XXX] for recall inspection and repair. Initially, the dealership indicated that there was an issue and that it was associated with a recall. However, they later reversed their position and stated that the vehicle was “fine” and did not perform any recall repair, despite the ongoing symptoms and prior diagnosis. The vehicle continues to exhibit the same dangerous symptoms, including shaking, engine knocking, and loss of power, and remains diagnosed by another repair facility as having engine bearing failure. This is a serious safety concern because the vehicle can lose power unexpectedly while driving at highway speeds. Additionally, there appears to be inconsistency in how this known defect is being handled, as my vehicle was initially identified as affected but later denied repair. I am requesting further investigation into engine bearing failures in the Infiniti QX50, as well as inconsistent recall application for this defect. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11733234

Good morning, I am writing to formally escalate a serious and unresolved safety concern involving my vehicle and to follow up on my existing case (Case #XXX). On April 22, 2026, while driving on the highway at approximately 55 mph, my vehicle suddenly performed a hard stop as if it detected an imminent collision. At the time, there were no visible obstructions or vehicles directly in front of me that would have warranted automatic emergency braking. This is a repeat issue. A nearly identical incident occurred on August 8, 2025, which was previously reported. Despite that report, the problem remains unresolved and continues to present a significant safety risk. These unexpected braking events create a hazardous driving condition with a clear risk of rear-end collision, particularly at highway speeds. Based on the pattern and circumstances, this strongly suggests a false activation of the automatic emergency braking system or a related safety system malfunction. Given the repeated nature of this issue and the potential safety implications, I am formally requesting: * Immediate escalation of this case to the appropriate engineering or safety review team * A full investigation as a potential safety defect * Identification of any related technical service bulletins, recalls, or known system issues * A clear plan and timeline for diagnosis and resolution at an authorized INFINITI dealership * Confirmation of whether reimbursement or other corrective action will be considered given the ongoing safety risk and repeated service attempts Please confirm receipt of this escalation in writing, along with next steps and assigned case handling details. I expect timely and serious attention to this matter given the safety risk involved. Sincerely, XXX XXX

About five months ago, while driving on the highway, the care would say it's in Drive, but sounded like it couldn't get out of 1st gear and I'd get high RPMs. Thankfully there was stop-and-go traffic and I didn't have to exit pull off the highway or hit high speeds. I exited at the next exit and, as soon as the car stopped, it wasn't possible to get it into gear. Eventually the car started and I was able to get into gear and drive it using Manual drive mode. Once at the dealership we were told it was a bad VCR and they needed to replace that to get it going. That was around 38,000 miles. This most recent incident, I had just gotten onto the highway when I started to hear a low whiney noise when pressing the accelerator. I only had a few miles till my exit and decided to continue, thinking it might just be debris or something. After exiting, I literally rolled into the gas station because the car, despite being in Drive, was not in gear. The car stalled and I couldn't get it started, or I could get it started, but it refused to go to Neutral to allow me to push it out of the way. Eventually, the car started and I was able to put it into Drive. Thinking it was the same issue, I planned to drive it the 2 miles home. I made it to the first traffic light and the car turned off, leaving the me stranded in the middle lane of the road. I called the police and tow trucks to come help me get the car moved (no one knows how to put the car into an emergency Neutral position including the 2 officers, 4 tow truck drivers and an Infiniti mechanic that was driving by). Eventually the tow truck came and I was able to drop it off at the dealership, who have told me there is "a chunk of bearing material in pan with copper particulates." I'm currently around 40,000 miles.

The vehicle experienced hesitation, delayed acceleration, and multiple warning lights while driving. The loss of power was severe enough that the driver became afraid to make left turns across traffic because the vehicle would not accelerate quickly or consistently when needed. This created a significant safety risk, as the driver could not reliably judge whether the vehicle would clear an intersection before oncoming traffic. A diagnostic trouble code related to the turbocharger control system was retrieved during the first visit to the dealership. The vehicle was brought in for a recall inspection involving potential engine bearing wear and oil pressure issues, but the recall inspection was not performed on the first visit and was rescheduled. On the way to the recall appointment, additional warning lights illuminated and the vehicle again lost power. The dealership kept the vehicle and stated that further diagnostics were needed. Over several days, the dealership reported that diagnostics were being performed, but no diagnostic results, measurements, technician notes, or recall determination were provided. The manufacturer later confirmed that they had not received any diagnostic information from the dealership and could not proceed with the recall case. The dealership verbally stated that the turbocharger issue was “not related to the recall,” but no documentation was provided to support this. Instead, the dealership sent a cost‑sharing repair proposal without identifying the failed component, the cause of the failure, or whether the failure was related to the recall. Warning lamps and reduced performance first appeared on the initial date of symptoms and continued through the recall appointment. The recall process remains incomplete because the dealership has not provided the required diagnostic documentation.

Stopped at night, at a red left turn light, 3 lane roadway. No one on road in front, passing me, or coming in opposite direction. Backup camera came on, the picture of the vehicle appeared on the screen, all warning signals came on for an imminent head-on, side-front passenger crash was about to occur. These warnings flashed, then screen totally black. Car was running, in drive, foot on brake waiting for green. No traffic on highway due to hour and location. The screen then flashed back on, same repeat warnings, black screen. Could not get screenshot, phone in purse. Light turned green, turned left across 2 more lanes, into destination parking lot. Screen came back on, stayed 'normal' rest of daytime driving, until 2 days later daytime driving on 4 lane highway, the imminent warning system did not come on when a vehicle in front hit brakes, 60 MPH traffic. I was distracted by a cell phone 'ping', looked down, then back up to see the brake lights, was abe to stop in time. Called the salesperson where purchased, after the first incident, on her recommendation, then service # at certified dealer where I was currently located, 4 + hrs away from dealership where purchased. Was told by this service center rep, 'never heard of this one, but we can get you in on Aug 19TH. (It was Aug 10TH at time of my call), if it happens again, get it towed either here, or dealership where purchased.' After the near rear-end crash, with no alert activated, my decision to return vehicle via notice to dealership sales manager was made. Dealership sales manager never responded to my email stating I was cancelling purchase of his vehicle. 2 salespeople were sent to drive it back, despite the recommendation of that out of town service rep. To tow it if 'another incident'. Concerned more incidents May occur with this vehicle, that it will be washed, waxed, returned for sale to another driver.

Turbo, Rear-Coupler, Engine, Actuator Car was squealing and I was told that the serpentine belt needed to be replaced. Replaced this. Car still squealing and took it back. They replaced the belt, again.. Still squealing, now I am told its the tensioner that needs to be replaced but only Infiniti can do this (belt done at Firestone). At Infiniti - they look at the car and the tensioner is fine. But my turbo is blown. How? So, they replace the turbo and then say the rear coupler needs to be replaced. Repairs done and Infiniti said all fluids are good, everything is great. However, I might see slight smoke and a burning smell for 100-150 miles as theres a thin layer of oil on the turbo that will burn off. Oil change isnt due for 5k miles and I checked before my short road trip - all is good. Past the 100-150 miles and the car is SMOKING and SMELLS OF BURNING... Call infiniti, this is normal it will go away. Check fluids again, as no lights on the dashboard and oil is fine. Come back to get my car, check the ground as I always do and no oil/fluid and proceed home. 10 mins from my house the car WREAKS of burning smell, will not accelerate, no dashboard lights. So, I sit there and let it cool down - check again everything looks good. Try again, car will not go. Fluids look fine - oil, no spikes in temp, and no lights. Next day, no fluids under the car. Car accelerates but lunges me then stops going. Car smells bad, smoke.. go to check the fluids and NO OIL in the car out of no where. Infiniti tows it and it sounded like it was going to blow up. Also, a tink tink tink sound started out of no where. This is dangerous as the vehicle could had started on fire. I still dont know what is going on as Inf. has the car right now. This is a major safety hazard as I found a LOT of reports on this happening to others with this specific model and year. I had NO issues like this until Inf replaced the turbo.. NONE!

#11753348 - on 7/1/2026, Infiniti Dealer found metal shavings actively present in my oil pan during a recall inspection. They passed the vehicle as good condition stating nothing found per a vehicle inspection report given to me. On July 25, 2026, my engine red light came on while driving and my engine began to shake violently and making a loud clunking noise. I towed the vehicle back to the dealer for another recall inspection. On 8/30/2026, the dealer informed me that the engine was failing due to the recall and needing bearing replacement but due to it passing back in July I would be responsible for replacing the bearings. They invoiced me for excess of 15,000, the diagnostic inspection of 270 and demanded that I return the loaner vehicle. When I returned the loaner vehicle on 9/3/2026, they attempted to sell me a new/pre-owned vehicle instead of providing me a written denial refusal notice of not honoring the vehicle recall. On 9/5/2026 Infiniti Consumer Affairs representative verbally confirmed that they were informed by the dealer that there were metal shavings present in my oil pan but denied the repair because there were not "chunks" or "clusters" of metal present. The manufacturer verbally claimed that the metal debris did not meet an internal, undocumented threshold of "chunks" or "clusters," and explicitly stated that Infiniti considered my vehicle's mileage and vehicle age and sludge present on the latter inspection that was not present on July 1 nor reported in making this denial decision. The representative also referenced a photograph sent to them at the end of August as justification for the denial. This photograph was not taken nor sent to them during the actual July 1st inspection. The dealer had already informed me that they did not send the manufacturer a photograph on July 1. The manufacturer refused to provide me written notice refusing to honor the recall and said to get it from the dealer.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,VISIBILITY/WIPER,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11466837

Multiple repeated problems with electrical system. Repeated crash sensor failure. This mainly happens when it is warm or sunny. The dealership has had the vehicle four times and the problem is still reoccurring. The malfunction light comes on when the car is first started or while driving. The dealership stated that none of the crash sensors work when it is lit. They have replaced the module that was diagnosed to be the problem, however there is still the same issues. They are going to replace the module again. They have replaced a module to control the wipers twice. The wipers still come on randomly when it is sunny, and the delay for the wipers does not work when it is raining. The cruise control stopped working and is throwing codes. This morning`s new warning was shift system malfunction. It's been in three times for the air-conditioner. The cooling fan was stuck on high speed until they replaced a sensor. The car was inspected and the brake pads were okay, however when the car stopped, there was a very loud pulsation. The dealership told me it needed rear brakes, which we replaced, and $600 later, they were still pulsating. After the second time taking it back, the dealer then said it was the tires which were new. We took it to a private garage, and the problem was warped, factory front rotars because they could not support the weight of the car. They were replaced with performance drilled and slotted rotars, which corrected the issue. The dealership cannot figure out the electrical issues, so they keep replacing the same parts and returning it back in a dangerous state. Since the vehicle is throwing so many codes and has so many malfunctions that I feel unsafe driving it. All of these problems problems started December 2019, when the car had 8000 miles on it. It has been to two different infiniti dealerships, neither being able to fix it. We have photos of all the codes, but when we tried to upload, it failed over and over.

POWER TRAIN,ENGINE

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11708940

A few months ago, I received an email from CarFax letting me know that my vehicle, a 2019 Infiniti QX50 with 2.0L Turbo Engine had a major recall (NHTSA Recall Campaign No. 25V-437). The letter indicated the recall was due to issues with the engine bearings which could lead to a catastrophic failure. I wasn't sure what this meant, so I took the car to Austin INFINITI. The technicians checked the oil pan to see if there were issues. My understanding is that the oil pan should have been removed, drained of all oil to ensure there were no issues that could lead to the catastrophic failure of the engine. None of this was done. I was given my car back and told all was okay. Unfortunately On the evening of November 10, 2025, my vehicle’s engine suddenly seized while driving at highway speeds. Fortunately, I was able to coast onto the Frontage Road. For my protection, the Police Department arrived quickly to park police vehicles in the front and back of my car with their lights on to avoid a nighttime collision or worse. I had no idea why my engine suddenly lost power while driving down the highway and continued to refuse to start despite repeated attempts to restart the vehicle, the engine would not start. I was scared to death and this situation has exacerbated my current diagnosis of PTSD for which I am currently in treatment. This was a horrifying event that could have cost me my life. I can't eat or sleep and experience nightmares that my car died, then I am hit by a car driving at highway speeds as I tried to exit the vehicle. My wife and I are both terrified of driving the car now. I tried to resolve the issue with my local INFINITI dealership and even contacted NISSA/INFINITI executives. I was met with disregard, disrespect and a $1,700 bill to replace the starter that burned out as we kept trying to start the car. The starter burnout was a secondary cause due to the primary issue of the engine seizure. Infiniti disagreed and insisted on the $1,700 for the starter.

While driving on the highway the vehicle would not accelerate and the oil pressure light came on. After pulling over we noticed a slight burning smell and cut the engine. After a few minutes we tried to start the car again and it would not start. Vehicle was towed to independent repair shop who told us the engine had seized. We then learned of the current recall effecting this make model and year of vehicle. The vehicle experienced the same series of events outlined in a service bulletin for the recall. Vehicle was then towed to local Infiniti dealer and they were told the engine is seized and asked to drop oil pan per recall guidelines to confirm and diagnose. After not hearing from dealer after 2 weeks I follow up to be told the vehicle had not been looked at yet and they would get it in that day and call me no later than next day. Once week goes by and they still had not contacted me. I contact them and am told the only thing wrong with my vehicle was a dead battery and that would cost X amount to replace. At that point my car had been sitting in the summer sun for 3 weeks, of course the battery is dead. I reluctantly agree to the repair. After another week I follow up on the repair and am told after replacing the battery the car still will not start and I asked again about the recall diagnosis. After another week, we contact them and am told the car shows information consistent with bearings recall and they submit to Infiniti to approve. A repair timeline is discussed at this time. 24 hours later we are contacted by dealer for first time and told it now does not fit under recall. Have a case with Nissan consumer affairs. We have asked several times for work order and photos of what they are looking at and have not received. Dealer is now asking for $300 plus dollar diagnostic fee to see what is wrong. They say sludge caused engine failure and not recall issue. It has been 46 days at this point and no resolution. Per recall, sludge can be caused by bearings issue
