Subaru Outback 2023

The SOS safety button became non-functional after a Starlink software update failed to load. The dealer found the software to be up to date and indicated it was not a Subaru problem. No fix was provided despite ongoing communication with Subaru America. The vehicle had approximately 9000 miles at the time of the complaint.

While the owner was walking around the vehicle to assist her husband into the passenger seat, the hatchback opened on its own and struck both occupants, causing them to fall to the ground. Both sustained injuries requiring emergency medical attention and transport by ambulance.

Unsolicited SiriusXM pop-up ads appear on the infotainment screen, blocking user interaction with controls including air conditioning and traction control. The ads appear both at startup and while driving, and cannot be dismissed without acknowledgment. Subaru initially directed the owner to contact SiriusXM, then promised an over-the-air software update that was never delivered. The issue appears to affect hundreds of other consumers.

While turning into a parking spot with the accelerator pedal slightly depressed, the vehicle unexpectedly accelerated and crashed into a parked vehicle on the driver's side, then continued moving forward into the next parking spot. No warning lights illuminated. The dealer and manufacturer were notified but the vehicle was not repaired.
