Source model text: Ryobi leafblower model P2108. Incident: Turned on blower and the orange plastic fan inside broke into pieces. Some of the pieces flew out into the air and onto the ground. We purchased it on May 29, 2017 at Home Depot along with an extended warranty but was told it is still under the manufacturer's warranty. I have called Ryobi's Lawn and Garden Service line twice-on Sept 10, [REDEACTED] filed a safety report and on Sept 20, [REDACTED] again filed a 2nd safety report. I was told both times that someone would contact me back in 7-14 days for a replacement blower BUT NOBODY HAS CALLED BACK. The reference number I was given is [REDACTED].

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20130408-C16B3-2147457195. Severity: Injury, No First Aid or Medical Attention Received. Matched catalog product: Ryobi Ryobi Battery pack Model: P108 4ah, 72Wh. Source model text: Ryobi Lithium 18 V 4Ah Battery Pack. Incident: On April 6, 2013 the light in my home office flickered several times followed by a sound reminiscent of arcing of electricity. In a period of one to two minutes it reoccurred several times. Concerned, I looked out the window of the room and observed smoke exiting the attached garage from the side of the garage door. I immediately went into the garage thru a kitchen door and observed fire in the corner of the garage on a work bench where I had a Ryobi Battery and charger along with a few other tools. I grabbed a cheap red mop and began hitting the flames in an attempt to extinguish the fire. The mop broke and a grabbed a second mop. Eventually I was able to get the fire out but not before thick black smoke from the ceiling to about chest level was through the garage. I then exited the garage and called the 911. While waiting for the fire department, I opened the garage door to ventilate the smoke. By the time the fire department responded, the smoke had cleared and the firefighters checked to ensure the absence of further fire. They determined the cause of the fire to be the Ryobi charger and battery.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20250904-37F52-2147328080. Severity: No Incident, No Injury. Product: Ryobi Ryobi Battery pack Model: P108 4ah, 72Wh (Ryobi Battery Black, silver, yellow Model Number: P108 4ah, 72Wh Serial Number: CS18013D461635). Incident: Ryobi P108 4ah battery pack manufactured 1/1/2018 overheats when charging. The battery gets over 150 F during charging and can't be touched. I bought this from Home Depot in 2019. The battery has always been this hot when charging. I've only charged it a total of 6 times. There is no error showing on my P117 charger and the battery always charged. There is no fault with the charger as different model battery's don't get hot at all. I've contacted Ryobi Support about the overheat issue and they don't think its relavent, its not in warranty and deny there is a problem. I've offered to send it to them for examination. They declined and stand by the warranty position. They declined when asked, to address my issues concerning my safety and the safety of my children. I believe this battery will explode. Ryobi has no response to that concern.
