Incident: Sunbeam Quartz Heater Model SQH310 Purchased 1 year ago at WalMart in Cleveland Ohio. Heater smelled burnt , kicked circuit breaker off and quit working. I opened the back and found 2 burned wires that had melted and burned in half. The cord was fine the internal wires were smaller gauge than the heater cord. Could have started a fire but I had it hooked up to a ground fault circuit that tripped.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20121223-D8B70-2147460732. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Sunbeam SQH310. Incident: I purchased 2 sunbeam space heaters from Walmart in selma, ca. Model number SQH310. I used one last January when i noticed that the prong on the power cord from the heater had gotten hot and melted and burned the plastic around the prong on the plug. I immediately quit using the heater and put it away thinking it was a fluke or power surge that caused it. Fast forward to 12/23/2012. I pulled out the second unit that I had purchased that had not yet been used and plugged it in and about 30 minutes later was going to be leaving so I went to unplug the unit and the power cord at the outlet was hot to the touch! Once the plug was removed from the outlet the metal prong on this unit had gotten so hot that it melted the plastic on the plug and left black burn marks on the wall outlet. Not only was this problem found in two different heating units but this happened in two different homes!!!!",
