SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20120412-AFC6B-2147468481. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Electrolux Model PLEF398CCB. Source model text: PLEF398CC. Incident: My wife turned the oven on to heat it up for cooking and after a few minutes we heard a loud pop and smoke came from the under side of the control panel and it smelled like electrical fire. It tripped the breaker when this happened. We were in the kitchen when it happened. We called a repair service who came and checked the unit and determined that the circuit board has shorted out and informed us of recalls on this product. After calling the recall number they informed me that this was not covered by the recall but they would send the "kit" to fix the problem that is covered under the recall but were not liable for the problem we are having with their product.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20190202-5AC71-2147382935. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Electrolux Model PLEF398CCB (Electrolux Electric range model PLEF398CCB. Ceramic smooth top range, four top burners plus one warming burner, electric self cleaning convection oven, lower warming drawer. Stainless steel front, black sides.). Incident: Electrolux electric range model PLEF398CCB: Smoothtop range burners will not turn off after use, and during use will go to maximum high heat continuously. This has occurred on all four burners at various times within the last year or so. In order to shut off burners, range main breaker has to be turned off. Sometimes, after "resting" for a while, and resetting breaker, burners will shut off. Other times they will not shut off at all. Turning burner knobs on and off numerous times will usually shut burner off. This malfunction poses a serious risk of burn injury or fire. I learned that this model was subject to a recall and contacted Electrolux/Frigidaire. They agreed that this model was part of the recall and requested the serial number. The serial number is printed on a plastic label fixed to the door frame, and after many years, the serial number is only partially legible. I gave Electrolux as much of the serial number as I was able to make out, but they REFUSED to rectify this dangerous condition unless i could give them a complete serial number. They would not even tell me exactly what the problem was, but indicated that the control knobs, as well as other electrical components needed to be replaced. They refused to give me the part numbers for the replacement parts required, and stated that the repairs had to be done by a registered repair person sent by Electrolux. Again, they refused to send a repair person without a complete serial number. The Electrolux representative agreed that this problem was in fact dangerous from both a burn and fire perspective, but still re
