Dehumidifiers (306)

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 22, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — SaferProducts.gov incident

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20160430-CD865-2147419847. Severity: Unspecified. Matched catalog product: Gree Gree Soleus Air GL-DEH-30-1. Source model text: GL-DEH-30-1. Incident: I have a SoleusAir Dehumidifier, powered by GREE, model #GL-DEH-30-1, purchased about May 2006. Late last summer and again now when I attempt to turn it on, it trips the circuit breaker to which the plug is attached. I tried cleaning the filter, and also ensured the hose drain was not plugged. Then in searching for how to repair, I came across the CPSC recall notice for these dehumidifiers. Fortunately, the circuit breaker tripping prevented any damage or injury because the unit just wouldn't run. Obviously, it must have been drawing significant current for this to happen, which could I suppose eventually have led to an electrical fire.

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20180711-ADCC2-2147386868. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: Gree Gree Soleus Air GL-DEH-30-1 (Gree Soleus Air GL-DEH-30-1 Dehumidifier). Incident: Gree Soleus Air GL-DEH-30-1 dehumidifier Gets extremely hot Makes entire room hot Sometimes does not pull any water out of the air but runs non stop until I power down Has always made a weird noise which has progressively gotten worse since the purchase date I bought this at Lowes I am afraid to leave it on as it now stops blowing air and makes a strange noise as if the motor is somehow locked up and the machine is very hot to the touch. I have turned the machine off several times and all the lights go off, but the machine is still running, I can hear it. It is only when I unplug it that the machine will actually turn off. I am afraid this is going to catch on fire. I have told the children not to plug it back in. I looked up the model Number to contact the manufacturer for help and saw that there is a recall on this model and it has caused excessive house fires. I need a dehumidifier that works for the downstairs of my house as it is damp without a dehumidifier running every day. Please provide me with any information you will that may help me with this situation and product. Thank you.
