SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20250418-A59C7-2147331862. Severity: Injury, First Aid Received by Non-Medical Professional. Product: Apple MacBook Pro 13in (MacBook Pro 13in Apple M1 Chip 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU 8GB Memory 512GB SSD Silver Purchased 3/22/2022). He ran outside and placed it on our deck, where the fire burned part of the deck surface and filled our home with smoke and fumes. This was not due to misuse or tampering. We were simply trying to understand the source of the heat after weeks of abnormal behavior. The device caught fire from minimal contact. Apples Response: I contacted Apple immediately. I was transferred to their Safety Department, but I received no clear process or safety guidance. I was asked inappropriate questions (e.g., What color was the flame?). When I asked how to handle the remaining battery components before traveling, I was told, I dont know. Call the emergency line. I shipped the laptop to Apple for review and followed up several tim
