SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20260223-965EF-2147323332. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Product: LG OLED 55B6P-U.BUSZLJR (LG OLED 55B6P-U.BUSZLJR SERIAL #612RMVB4A127 BUILD DATE DECEMBER 2016 FACTORY ID: LZ). Incident: On February 20th, 2026 i powered our LGOLED55B6P television on for the news as i was getting into bed. Not even 1-2 mins later my wife heard a pop sound and the TV went black and then started to smoke profusely out of the top of the panel. Before i could even get it unplugged it started to burn and i couldn't even touch the tv to be able to move the tv outside so we would be out of immediate danger. Instead the whole house smelled like chemicals so bad that it was even in our clothes. When the set was finally able to be handled i removed it and placed it outside to finish cooling off and the smell inside our home dissapate. The reason my wife heard the pop and i did not is i am hearing impaired so i had already removed my hearing aids. I hate to fathom what would have occured had it just been me or my wife was asleep. I shouldn't have to worry about an appliance catching fire especially at the very least under normal use. (the tv ran at maximum energy savings and at minimum brightness for its entire life) Perhaps Tv's and appliances need an "expiration date" or "best if used before this date" stickers to indicate when an appliance becomes a higher risk to own. Regardless this was a "thermal"event that occured and LG is well aware of the panel and power board failures stemming from 2016-2019 model televisions that prompted a massive recall. This set internals are nearly or are identical to those that were in the recall.I would sincerely hope that LG would and will put safety over everythng with as big as name as they are in the market. To date all i have been offered is a re
