SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20120726-EA3A7-2147465357. Severity: Incident, No Injury. Matched catalog product: Philips Ambilight TV (prior unit; replaced with 50PUS8309). Source model text: SPS1060T/17 Power multiplier 6 outlets Wall tap White. Incident: While installing the "Philips Power multiplier SPS1060T/17 6 outlets Wall tap", I discovered that the supplied screw is too short to secure the unit to the outlet. This creates an unsafe condition, so I removed the unit from service before use.

Light Bulbs (627)

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 28, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — SaferProducts.gov incident

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20110418-11ED3-2147480062. Severity: Unspecified. Matched catalog product: Philips Ambilight TV (prior unit; replaced with 50PUS8309). Source model text: Marathon Classic65. Incident: I have typical recessed can lights in my home that use incandescent flood light type bulbs. In an effort to be more energy efficient, I have replaced these bulbs with Philips compact flourescent light bulbs. Two times I have had the glass globe on the CFL bulbs spontaneously release from the base and shatter on the floor. I am incredibly thankful and lucky that they did not land on or injure anyone in my family. I though the first time, which occurred 6-7 months ago, was probably just a rare incident. But the second time occurred a month ago. I did a brief search on-line and found that other people have reported the same defects in the bulbs.

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 28, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — SaferProducts.gov incident

SaferProducts.gov consumer incident report 20130819-9633E-2147452906. Severity: Injury, No First Aid or Medical Attention Received. Matched catalog product: Philips Ambilight TV (prior unit; replaced with 50PUS8309). Incident: I installed a Philips LED light bulb into a table lamp. When I went to turn on the lamp, I received a 120V shock from the lamp. I assumed it must be the power cord causing the problem, so I replaced the lamp's wiring. That did not fix the issue. I replaced the LED light bulb with the original incandescent lamp, and the lamp works fine.

TV failed within warranty; replaced by Coolblue

Retailer reviewIndexed Oct 8, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — Coolblue review

Coolblue review by Marga (2025-03-29, title: "Very good service for a broken TV", rating 8/10). [Translated from Dutch] Affordable set. The previous similar Philips Ambilight failed within the warranty period. So Coolblue gave me a new one — this one. I hope I have better luck with this TV.
