Brake system failure

SERVICE BRAKES

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 8, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11631438

When the Vehicle is put into Neutral Tow Mode and Towed behind a vehicle while using a supplemental braking system. The Bronco's Brake system becomes intermittently Active. Causing the slightest pressure to lock up the brakes. The Same issue as reported in. SSM 51415 . The Bronco power brake system is supposed to be de activated once it is put into neutral tow mode. Thus you set the supplemental brake system to respond as a vacuum brake system. So when the brake system on the Bronco becomes active during a stop it will lock up the wheels on the bronco and all four wheels skid. The brakes will stay locked up for what seems to be a long time but, may only be 10 or 15seconds to get them to release. Causing a dangerous traffic situation, huge stress on tires, towing equipment and the towing vehicle, The manufactures service refuses to any more troubleshooting saying the issue does not fall within the SSM 51415. Being this is a new 24 model year. They looked at the firmware and said i have the latest. I had this issue twice the same day. I have used my RVI supplemental brake system on several vehicles for thousands of miles without issue. Only with this bronco and my first 21 bronco have I had these kind of issues.

Electrical system failure

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 8, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11641417

Driving at 65 mph on an interstate highway the infotainment console suddenly shut down and then the entire vehicle lost acceleration and came to quick slow crawl. There was NO braking, accelerating or changing 2wd/4wd modes before this happened. This posed a safety hazard to driver behind me as I did not have time to apply the brake pedal, not sure if the brake lights would have worked anyways in afterthought. There were NO warning lamps, messages or any other symptoms of the problem prior to failure. It just instantly happened. The vehicle was driven with the slow crawl off the interstate to the nearest parking lot. The dealer was notified by phone immediately with no remediation. The vehicle was shut down completely and restarted after a few minutes. The infotainment console slowly turned on. This is the second time this has happened. The vehicle has been to the dealer's service center for both incidents. The dealer stated the 1st time it may be a bad battery but not sure. The 2nd time they did not see any error codes on their reader, and they left it at that. They could not replicate the safety hazard. The vehicle has not been inspected by the manufacturer, police or insurance representative. The vehicle is available for inspection upon request.

Fuel system failure

FUEL/PROPULSION SYSTEM

20 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 8, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11729432

On or about Feb10 2026 near [XXX] heading North I experienced an commanded accelerator input. I was stopping for a light on a section of the road where I always lose connection with the apple carplay in the vehicle. I suspect that there is an illegal radio jammer being used. On this particular occasion the traffic stopped at this location where I typically lose the connection from the phone to the infotainment system and the infotainment system resets. However this time the throttle advanced to almost full throttle without any input on the accelerator as my foot was on the brake in order to slow. I had to use full application of the brake in order to keep from hitting the car in front of me. Just as I started to shift the transmission to neutral the accelerator went back to idle. The event lasted about 5 seconds. My hypothesis is that some sort of radio interference is causing the system to reset and in this case it caused communication issues with the can bus or engine control module. I have not gone back to try and repeat the issue but the radio interference is still there in the same area. RF interference should not effect the function of the engine or vehicle controls. Engine failure

ENGINE

17 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 8, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11701105

The failure appears to have originated in the passenger side engine compartment, but the exact component or system (fuel, electrical, or other) is unknown. The vehicle is a total loss from the fire but should be available for inspection at the tow or storage facility. Our safety and the safety of others were put at risk because the vehicle caught fire suddenly while driving with traffic on a public road; my wife was driving, I was in the passenger seat, and our dog was in the back, and if we had not noticed the smoke and pulled over, the fire could have led to loss of control, injury, or a larger fire. The problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center because the vehicle is completely burned and not drivable. As of now, the vehicle has not yet been inspected by the manufacturer; a claim has been initiated with my insurance company, and I expect their representatives and/or a fire investigator to inspect the vehicle, and local emergency services responded to the scene. There were no warning lamps or messages on the dashboard prior to the fire; the only prior symptom was an abnormal odor from the exhaust that smelled like mothballs or ammonia, first noticed immediately after starting the vehicle at the beginning of the trip on November 23, 2025, followed later in the trip by smoke and then the fire.

SUSPENSION

23 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 8, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11768786

A suspension component on my 2024 Ford Bronco -- the sway bar disconnect device. began reporting malfunction in May of 2026. A service warning for the component appeared on the vehicle status display. The issue caused several control system features to freeze and could not be cleared. The warning was intermittent, but subsequent information from a dealer service revealed that faults were registered in the system OBD files. I took my vehicle to the dealer where I purchased the vehicle three times and they reported to me that they could not find a cause of the warning. This exercise carried on for approximately 3 and a half months. I finally took my vehicle to a second dealer, who diagnosed the issue and effected repairs. Both dealers told me that other Broncos had shown the same problem. Issues with corrosion and perhaps other defects in the component paper to be prevalent. This is an off-road vehicle, advertised to have water fording capability, yet a critical suspension component seems to not be weather proof. My concern is that the replacement parts will fail again at some point, no mention was made of an upgrade to the item that makes t suitable for the advertised use of the vehicle. I fear that this problem may repeat and repeat beyond the warranty period. Also continuing to make my vehicle unsafe and constrained by lack of the dealer and company to address the repairs in a timely fashion.

Electrical system failure

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

18 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 8, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11709554

I am writing regarding my new Ford Bronco vehicle, VIN: [XXX] , purchased in November 2024, currently with 7,151.5 km. I recently received Ford’s official notice advising that the engine block heater in this vehicle may develop a coolant leak which could result in an electrical short circuit when the system is plugged in. This is a serious manufacturing and safety defect that existed at the time of sale. Due to the nature of this hazard, I am not operating the vehicle, as it has been placed it on storage insurance. The vehicle has not been driven since receiving Ford’s notice in order to mitigate risk and prevent potential damage or injury. Under Manitoba’s Consumer Protection Act and the Sale of Goods Act, a new vehicle must be of acceptable quality, safe, durable, and fit for its ordinary purpose. A vehicle delivered with an admitted safety defect fails to meet these legal requirements. Accordingly, I am formally exercising my right to rescind the sales contract and cancel the related financing agreement. I am kindly requesting a full buy-back, including refund of all payments made to date, payoff of the remaining loan balance by Ford or the dealer, and the cancellation of the financing agreement with no negative credit impact. I would appreciate a written response from you within five (5) business days so that we may proceed toward a timely and appropriate resolution. Sincerely, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)

Structure / body failure

STRUCTURE

19 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 8, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11721646

Vehicle: 2024 Ford Bronco Outer Banks Mileage: Approx. 15,000 The molded-in-color (MIC) composite hardtop panels have developed significant cracking across all four removable roof sections. Cracks are present on the driver-side front, mid, rear, and passenger-side panels. The cracking appears to originate within the composite material and has progressively worsened over time. The vehicle and affected panels are available for inspection upon request. The hardtop is part of a rollover-rated vehicle and contributes to structural integrity and occupant protection. Progressive cracking raises concern about reduced structural performance in a rollover. Additional risks include continued material degradation, potential panel instability at highway speeds, and water intrusion affecting electrical components. The condition has been visually inspected and confirmed by our Ford dealership, which verified cracking on all four panels. The vehicle has not been involved in any accident and has not been inspected by police or insurance representatives. The cracking was not caused by impact, misuse, improper storage, or improper removal. The hardtop has only been removed approximately five times since purchase, with all panels removed together only once, and removal was performed carefully according to manufacturer guidance. The hardtop is currently being replaced under the bumper-to-bumper warranty. However, replacement does not address the underlying concern if the material or manufacturing process is defective. Numerous other Ford Bronco owners have reported similar cracking, including multiple replacements. There were no warning lamps or messages prior to the cracking. The issue was first noticed at approximately 13,000 miles and has continued to progress. Given the low mileage, limited removal, dealership confirmation, and widespread similar reports, this appears to be a potential systemic material defect that warrants further investigation and a permanent corrective act.

On Monday Jan 27 2025 i took my 2024 ford bronco in for routine maintenance and check up. Upon completion of these services my 2024 ford bronco was in terrific condition. Everything came back great they even coded it and it was good. By Wednesday [XXX] at [XXX] there was an issue with the Bronco it wouldn't detect the key fob it said no key detected on the dashboard. So I got my second key Fob and it also wasn't detected so then went to get new batteries for the key fob the car was not drivable at that time switched batteries twice still no detection. Called service at Rivertown ford to get assistance service person came to us because there was nowhere we could find the emergency fail safe that all the bronco of this year has since it's a push start button to start car. He did find the fail safe in the center console under the carpet and able to start car from there. Gary the service person told me it safe to drive back to rivertown service so they can find out what going on. Once in the service it was stated that it is radio transimission control module radio frequency failure. That it was ok to drive till they got part in. Didn't get half way home when a warning light came on that the tire pressure sensor failed so I took Bronco back immediately agian Gary service person told me it was safe to drive till they get the part ordered and in to service the Bronco. I called Ford corporation reported this issue with them Tei is the agent i spoke to from ford Corp. Case number is [XXX]. My concern is i have had plenty of vehicles in my lifetime and these services and mechanics tell you anything at times to justify the means a new car. I need to know it's safe to drive and if there is issues someone gonna pay attention take it seriously and fix it. There was no warning that fob was bad other than the no key detected and then later tire pressure sensor failure did come on. If this car is unsafe to drive or more of internal electric issue is coming address it INFORMATION RED
