Car jumped forward while coming to a stop. Almost hit a child crossing in the crosswalk. Also happened numerous times coming to a stop at the off ramp. Engine idles very rough, high pitch idle, and RPMs surge up and down on their own. Dealer won’t believe us. They don’t want to use resources to fix what is covered by warranty. This car is a danger to drive. Has also stalled unexpectedly. Dealer only looks for software update and warning lights. We’ve never had a warning light and updates do absolutely nothing. Forums show others are experiencing the same thing. Dealer said they cannot spend that amount of time to find the problem. This is a liability and major safety issue that Range Rover needs to be addressed. Car has 9000 miles. Car shutters and bounces. RPMS unpredictable and car has idling issues. Please help -we don’t want to hit someone because the car unexpectedly lunges forward.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

68 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11720714

While traveling at highway speeds, the vehicle suffered a sudden and total loss of motive power (high-speed stall) without prior symptoms. A "Charging System Fault" message appeared seconds before the engine and all critical electrical systems shut down. This failure occurred in active traffic, resulting in the immediate loss of power steering and electronic braking assistance, creating an imminent collision risk for the occupants and surrounding motorists. Component Failure: The authorized dealer confirmed the failure of the DC-DC Converter (original part LR176476), which regulates the 48V-to-12V charging cycle. The component is currently held by the dealer and available for inspection. The failure caused a secondary total depletion of the 12V battery, rendering the vehicle's safety lighting and hazard signals inoperable. Manufacturer Awareness: The dealer confirmed the original part has been discontinued and superseded by a revised design (Part 433123472) due to known defects. Furthermore, the dealer stated that multiple other vehicles are currently grounded at their location awaiting the same backordered safety component. There is currently no estimated time of arrival for the revised part, leaving the vehicle indefinitely sidelined due to a systemic manufacturing flaw.

2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport VIN: [XXX] Repair Order/Invoice No.: XXX NHTSA Recall No.: 26V248 Land Rover Recall No.: D126/H575 I received a Land Rover safety-recall notification in June 2026 concerning the DC/DC converter on my vehicle. The recall is identified by NHTSA as 26V248 and by Land Rover as D126/H575. The subsequent failure of my vehicle involved the exact component identified in the recall. On or about XXX, my vehicle experienced a charging-system fault and would not start. I brought the vehicle to Jaguar Land Rover Van Nuys/[XXX]. The dealer's own repair documentation states: "DC / DC converter internal failure." The dealer further documented that the charging system was producing approximately 11 volts. The dealer then: Removed/replaced the DC/DC converter. My vehicle subsequently experienced the exact condition described in the recall, and the dealer diagnosed the exact recalled component as having an internal failure. I was charged $2522.59 for the repairs of the DC/DC converter and battery replacement due to low voltage. NHTSA states that recall repairs are to be performed free of charge at the manufacturer's dealership. I was informed that I needed a second letter of notification for reimbursement. ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11725665

The contact owns a 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The contact stated that within a week of purchasing the vehicle new, there was an abnormally strong odor coming from the vehicle. The dealer picked up the vehicle and performed an engine cleaning; however, the failure recurred within days. The contact stated that the low coolant warning light was frequently illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that no issue was found. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where coolant was added to the vehicle, and the contact had frequently added coolant to the vehicle as needed. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer, where several coolant leaks were found. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to Land Rover Charlotte (6710 E Independence Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28212), where it was diagnosed that the inner coolant had leaked into the engine, and there were metal shavings found in the oil. The dealer determined that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The contact stated that the vehicle was diagnosed after the warranty had expired. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V044000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and previously offered several vouchers for the repairs. The failure mileage was unknown.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,STRUCTURE

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11676894

I am reporting a significant safety issue related to my 2020 Land Rover Range Rover Sport involving sunroof water intrusion that has caused serious electrical failures throughout the vehicle. Shortly after owning the vehicle, I began to notice water leaking from the sunroof area, which has now caused malfunctions in the electrical system. These include: •Unresponsive or erratic infotainment and dashboard displays •Malfunctioning electronic safety features •Water pooling near or inside the footwell •Warning lights and errors on the instrument panel •Intermittent failure of lights, power seats, and other electronic systems This defect poses a safety hazard because electrical components exposed to water may fail while the vehicle is in operation, possibly leading to loss of vehicle control, disabled safety systems (e.g., airbags or brakes), or electrical shorts that could result in a fire. Upon researching, I discovered that this is a known issue in multiple Land Rover and Range Rover models, including Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) issued in prior years. It appears to stem from poor drainage design or faulty sunroof seals, and the location of sensitive electronic modules beneath areas prone to leaks. I am requesting that the NHTSA investigate this issue to determine whether it qualifies for a recall, and to ensure Land Rover is held accountable for resolving what appears to be a widespread and dangerous design flaw. Please contact me for additional documentation, photos, or repair records. I am currently working with a dealership, and I may pursue action under New Jersey’s Lemon Law if this is not resolved.

ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,FORWARD COLLISION AVOIDANCE

68 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11733585

The DC/DC converter went out. While driving [XXX], all the warning lights came on, no abs, no front collision warning and all other safety warnings lights flashed. Immediately after the lights came on vehicle completely shut down while driving leaving me stranded in the street in Greenwood, AR. I had my vehicle towed to the dealership. Land Rover was already aware of the DC/DC converter issue but told me it was the battery which I paid to have replaced. I drove my vehicle home from the dealership. After arriving home my vehicle would not lock. I contacted the dealership and was advised to bring it back in when they had an appt in 3 weeks. I could not drive my vehicle due to not being able to lock it. While driving the vehicle to the dealership to get repaired because it would not lock, my vehicle shut down this time leaving me stuck in a blind spot on a rural highway (55mph speed limit) with no where to pull over due to deep drainage ditches on the shoulder. For two hours I had to wave at vehicles letting them know there was a dangerous hazard in the road (my vehicle) while waiting for the tow truck. My vehicle was again towed to the dealership, 126 miles away. It was at this time I was advised by the service advisor later confirmed by the General Manager, Land Rover had an ongoing problem with the DC/DC converters. My vehicle has been at the dealership since February 9, 2025 because they do not have the DC/DC converter available. The dealership does not provide loaner vehicles. I have since researched the internet and found numerous articles and other complaints regarding the DC/DC converters going out in Land Rover vehicles. ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,SERVICE BRAKES

75 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11764252

The braking system keeps repeatedly failing. I have numerous times been driving when the braking system locks, leaving the car uncapable of securing a safe stop at any given moment. In 2024, the vehicle was serviced at Landrover Englewood, NJ where I paid for repairs. The same problem yet again emerged causing the risk of potential accident on September 1, 2026 while driving on the local city roadways. The following dashboard error messages came on my screen: "Hill Descent Control not available", "OK to drive with caution Stability control not available," and there was a third (?) message that I did not capture in time. These signs have intermittently popped up on my dash over the past few years and when brought to Mt. Kisco (seller) dealerships attention, was told by the service manager at the time that this was not an issue to be concerned with. The vehicle is currently in the landrover Edison NJ shop again due to the SAME BRAKE FAILURE/ISSUE I EXPERIENCED IN 2024, but yes, is available for inspection upon request. I launched an email back in 2024 (copy is available at your request) regarding this same issue to the landrover dealer and attorney generals office highlighting the safety risk, as I was traveling on the turnpike (the most concerning, heart dropping, life threatening experience) amongst other public roadways when I experienced this life threatening safety concern. I had to think immediately and shift the vehicle into park mode while driving because the vehicles brakes locked and failed to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was eventually fully inspected by the Mt. Kisco landrover service center and returned back to me, deemed safe in 2024. No other inspections from any other parties, to my knowledge, have been made.

Electrical system failure

SUSPENSION,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM,ENGINE

64 months

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11708257

The component that failed is the charging system alternator on my 2020 Range Rover Sport HST (mild-hybrid). This vehicle has experienced three alternator failures prior to 100,000 miles. The failed alternator and related components are currently in dealer possession and are available for inspection upon request. Failure of the alternator creates a safety risk because loss of charging capability can lead to battery depletion, electrical system shutdown, warning system failure, reduced vehicle functionality, or potential loss of power while driving. Electrical warnings and system faults increase driver distraction and may impair safe operation of the vehicle. The problem has been confirmed and reproduced by an authorized Land Rover dealership, which diagnosed the most recent alternator failure promptly. All maintenance and repairs have been performed exclusively at authorized Land Rover dealerships, with no evidence of owner neglect or misuse. The vehicle is subject to a Battery Energy Control Module (BECM) recall and related charging system software actions, which affect voltage regulation and the charging architecture that supports alternator operation. The vehicle and charging system have been inspected by the manufacturer’s authorized dealer on multiple occasions. Prior to failure, the vehicle displayed charging system warnings, battery-related messages, and electrical fault notifications. These symptoms appeared before each alternator failure and prompted service visits. Over the past two years, the vehicle has been out of service for approximately 178 days due to repeated electrical and charging-related issues. Given the repeated alternator failures, recall-related charging system involvement, and safety implications of charging loss, this appears to be a systemic electrical defect rather than an isolated incident.

Land Rover/Range Rover does not have remote start on the key fob, but instead proudly boasts of their InControl App. "InControl Remote provides information on your vehicle and enables you to interact with it remotely. Compatible with most AndroidTM and Apple iOS smartphones, this service allows you to lock/unlock the doors, remotely preheat/precool the vehicle using the climate control function and remote engine start, or find your Land Rover faster by using the Beep and Flash feature." A quick look at the App reviews or an online google search of this product indicates this simply is not the case. The App is unreliable at best and unsafe at worst. It absolutely does not operate as marketed. The App is defective and Land Rover is well aware and has done nothing to correct this. I have been locked outside of my own Range Rover multiple times in various locations. Today, there was a winter gale warning of Real Feel 17 degrees. I started my car about five minutes before exiting. The App showed that my car started. When I was about one minute from my car, I opened the App to unlock my vehicle. It said it was unlocked. I physically saw the side mirrors on my car close and heard the doors lock as I was approaching. The App continued to show that my car was running and unlocked. I stood outside the car in the freezing weather (note that I could SEE my key fob inside the car) waiting for the App to refresh so I could unlock. I took a screenshot of the App indicting my car was unlocked and a video of me trying the handle on my car at this time. After approximately 5 minutes, I started walking back to the restaurant. The continued to try to use the App. I emailed remote@jaguarlandrover.com. Finally, it showed that I could lock my already locked car, so I locked it and unlocked it. I walked back out. It was not unlocked. I called Roadside Assistance for help. She was in the process of filing for someone to come unlock my car, when I tried the App again 10 min later. It unloc
