Engine/Turbocharger Failure

turbocharger, turbo hose, engine bearings

$4,100

In August 2025 the engine shut off while driving on the highway; the dealership replaced the turbo hose. A subsequent check engine light appeared in July 2026, and after three days the dealership diagnosed a failed turbocharger requiring replacement. The owner believes engine bearing issues and low oil pressure related to an incomplete recall caused the turbocharger to fail. The dealership refused to cover the $4,100 repair under the extended 10-year/120k-mile warranty, claiming the vehicle was 9,000 miles over the basic warranty and that the turbocharger is not part of the long block.
