On December 29, 2022, I took delivery of a brand new 2023 ID.4 Pro S AWD with 20 miles on the odometer. The vehicle was showing a 12V battery warning the following day. I drove it for about 80 miles that day to ensure that the 12V battery is charged in case it was not properly looked after during transport and at the dealer. The next day, the vehicle was inoperable and immobilized. The 12V battery has failed and the accessory voltage dropped to 8V. Power steering stopped working, headlights were not working and it was not possible to put the vehicle in neutral. I called a tow truck via the Volkswagen roadside assistance. In preparation for the tow the operator attempted to boost the 12V battery from a portable jump starter. This was necessary to put the vehicle in neutral so that it can be moved. While doing that the vehicle became fully operable again and the operator encouraged me to drive the vehicle myself instead of getting it towed. I agreed and drove it to my garage where I put the 12V battery on a tender / battery charger. The following day the vehicle was again completely inoperable and it was now blocking my garage where is was difficult to access. I continued to charge the 12V battery for another full day. Now the vehicle turns on again and can be driven. However, there is a plethora of warnings including one that states that 12V battery supply is limited and the vehicle needs to be driven with care. I scheduled an appointment with a Volkswagen dealer for the following day. In summary, I took delivery of a brand new vehicle that almost immediately became inoperable. Given that it's very difficult to impossible to get the vehicle on a tow truck without the 12V accessory voltage powering its electronics the manufacturer should have taken precautions so that the battery cannot fail in such rapid and unpredictable fashion. There needs to be a way to put the vehicle in neutral in emergency situations such as this one.

While backing out of my driveway onto our residential street the car died without warning and all information displays went blank for a moment and then all the warning lights came on. The car would not change gears and my car was obstructing the roadway. My children were in the backseat of the car. I pressed the start stop button on the dash and the car "rebooted". warning lights were gone. I took the vehicle into the dealership a few days later for a scheduled repair to the steering wheel. I informed them of the incident and asked them to inspect. They ran a diagnostic and determined that they needed to replace a module in the vehicle's electrical system. Once the repair was complete we retrieved the car. Less than seven days after picking up the "repaired" vehicle my husband was backing out of our driveway and the same thing happened - only this time he was still in the driveway. Our driveway has a slight slope and the car was behaving as though it was in neutral (rolling down the drive) with no ability to change gears. Warning lights indicating electrical system failure were on the dash. He had to open his door and start to exit the vehicle while depressing the brake pedal in order to get the car to turn off. We had the vehicle towed to the dealership. They had the car for over 45 days trying to diagnose and duplicate the issue. We were told that there were no error codes and that they could not duplicate the problem. In the end we initiated a buyback request from VW and were denied with no explanation. I do not feel safe in this vehicle. It appears to have a major fault in its electrical system that is triggered by a yet to be determined set of circumstances. I frequently drive in and out of driveways on all sorts of roads and feel fortunate that this happened where it did. If this happened to me while I was backing out onto a more heavily trafficked roadway it could cause a life threatening accident.

The incident occurred on May 24, 2025, while preparing to park the 2023 VW ID4. I had two occupants in the car with me. At the time of the incident, I was moving very slow with my foot on the brake, just about ready to stop and put the car in the park position, when the ID4 suddenly violently lurched forward. The car went over a cement parking stop continuing forward on to a sidewalk and then hit a building. I tried to stop the vehicle as quickly as I could. No collision lights, none of the usual sensors, and no automatic Collison braking came on. The only braking was by me. If someone would have been walking in front of the car at the time of the incident there would have been serious injuries, or deaths. Had the car had more room to accelerate before it hit the building, I think myself & my passengers could have been injured. The vehicle was taken into VW dealership who had the car for five weeks. The car was inspected by a VW engineer, final report states driver pressed the accelerator causing the vehicle to go forward at 54% acceleration. I expressed to the VW dealership that the car DID lunge but that I did not touch the accelerator. I had 2 passengers that can also verify that there were no warning lamps, sensors, or symptoms prior to the incident and normally the front sensors start beeping when you get too close to anything! After this incident I started to do some research and found on a VW Vortex forum that this type of incident has happened to numerous owners of ID 4's. Some of the writers to the forum had the exact same incident as mine, stating they were pulling into a parking spot ready to park and the car lunged. I also found it was happening to Audi owners a sister company of VW. My greatest concern is the frequency of this incident and the company's refusal to take any responsibility which was also widely reported on line. We had owned the VW ID4 for 2.5 years and never had anything like this happened before.

I was backing my 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 into my very tight driveway very slowly to avoid hitting my other car parked on the street, my house and my neighbors house. The parking collision sensor alerted me that I was close to my other car but I can see out my window that I had room to clear it safely so I continued to back into my driveway at about 1 mile an hour. All of a sudden, my car made a click click noise as it lurched back and forth and then the car took over control and drove into my house about 20-30 feet at maybe 20 mph (not sure exactly but pretty fast) and crashed into my house and my neighbors house/gate. I pumped the brakes 2-3x but they did not work and the car continued driving into my house at that fast speed. I remember thinking omg, the car is not going to stop until it hit the house. No collision sensors went off during the automatic reverse acceleration and no manual nor auto emergency brakes were employed. Even though I pressed the brakes 2-3x, the ring video did not show brake lights (which isn't a surprise since they did not activate). There was a man that just walked his dog behind my car a minute before my car accelerated backwards. He would have been hit at 20mph 2 feet from my car. He is an eye witness to the incident and agreed that this was no way human error. If it were human error and I had accidentally pressed the acceleration pedal, I wouldn't have gone that fast on my super tight driveway and street and I also would have had plenty of time to press the opposite pedal to stop before hitting my own house. I haven't been able to get access to the "black box" yet to see what the car's computer says and haven't reached out to the dealer or VW as my insurance claim is still being processed. My house, my neighbor's gate and my car are badly damaged but am thankful nobody got hurt. I had not seen any indication before that something like this could happen. It was a sunny day, November 23, 2024 12:50pm.

Claim submitted to VW Customer Care on March 8, 2026. Current problems cited include: Doors malfunctioning; vehicle difficult to start and power off; steering and braking warnings; complete loss of power steering; compromised performance in significant lag between accelerator depression and vehicle response; electrical malfunction alerts (17); numerous dashboard warnings; distressing repetitive whining sound (not mechanical); persistent underperformance regarding vehicle range. On March 10, vehicle was towed to commence inspection at Bay Ridge Volkswagen Service & Parts – [XXX] . Further evidence of vehicle issues provided as accompaniment to VW Customer Care Claim via: [XXX] This current March 2026 concern follows on multiple service visits and loss of vehicle usage during April–August 2025 claims process. During this time, Brooklyn Volkswagen Service (now permanently closed) conducted an evaluation of the car, including documented video evidence of issues with the car – even beyond those which were the original cause for my concerns (e.g. they cited degradation of cables and wiring within the car’s hood due to their being made of edible soy wrappings). Link provided: [XXX] . Vehicle was ultimately released back to me with unresolved repairs (citing backorder of parts amongst other concerns that VW would not consent to resolving related to compromised bumper electronics) and interim repair offered to resolve compromise to vehicle airbag systems. The primary use of this vehicle is in transportation of my children. It is patently unsafe to drive. Given that the vehicle is subject to a federal safety recall without an available remedy I have requested a prompt determination of the vehicle repurchase / lease buy‑back and compensation for loss of use and incurred costs to support alternative transportation requirements until resolution under this claim. * After parking on a hill (with the car facing uphill) and putting the car in Park, as my wife was gathering her things to exit the car, the car suddenly released from Park and lurched backward, rolling into the parked car behind it. This caused a dent on the back of the ID4, fortunately no damage to the other car. And especially fortunate that no people were hurt. * We called the dealership and also opened a case with VW corporate. Both were very responsive. After a week of running tests, they returned the car to us because they couldn't reproduce the issue and didn't find any error codes through their diagnostics * While driving the car myself, I experienced the issue again in a different context -- I was pulling out of a parking lot, on a downramp waiting to enter the street. As I lifted my foot from the brake preparing to drive into the street, the car lurched backward, up the downramp. Fortunately there was no car behind me and no pedestrians walking by. We reported this to the dealership and VW. They immediately took the car in again and kept it another week. Ultimately one of the techs at the dealership did experience the issue. We have a written report from the dealership that says, "Verified customer concern. Vehicle slightly rolled back before moving forward." (report uploaded) However, neither the dealership nor VW could trace this to an "error code" or a root cause. With confirmation of the issue from the dealer, I formally asked VW to cover the costs of the repair. VW said they would not, because there was no "error code" that pointed to a manufacturing fault. I argued that if we have confirmation that the car is doing something it shouldn't be doing, the fact that VW doesn't know why doesn't mean it's not their responsibility. The car is still potentially very unsafe. * We repaired the car at our expense (invoice uploaded) but I would still like VW to take responsibility for the cost and also ensure the car is safe for us and for others

I brought my 2023 Volkswagen id.4 Pro S EV to the Volkswagen dealer where the vehicle was purchased new earlier this year. This service visit was for the routine 10,000 mile inspection. Upon leaving the appointment, I drove out of the exit driveway of the dealership and made a left turn across a 5 lane road. Shortly after pulling out into the road (at approximately 15-20mph driving in "B" regenerative mode) all acceleration ability ceased despite my foot depressing the acceleration pedal. I had no ability to accelerate for about 3-4 seconds, leaving the car drifting in the middle of my turn. It wasn't until a few moments later after pumping the pedal that the acceleration ability returned. No warning lights or other changes were observed. I called the dealership about this, and after about a week they responded with "I spoke with the EV technician, he noted that because we plugged in the scanner to do the 10k service, it may have reset the basic settings of the E-motor. He noted it is normal for that to happen as when the engine dies and comes back on, it's the vehicle resetting the basic settings again. So it should not happen again." Meanwhile, I posted about my issue in an id.4 owners forum online and received 25 responses stating others had experienced the same concerning problem after a service visit. If VW dealers are releasing serviced vehicles to customers knowing what they are about to experience (momentary loss of acceleration upon first drive after visit), this represents a serious safety hazard. Fortunately, in my example, I was in a low-traffic scenario where the momentary loss, while panic inducing, did not cause me to impede traffic. However, if the road had been busier, my sudden and unexpected deceleration could have easily caused an accident. I feel very strongly that I am lucky nothing happened to me, and I also feel that the nonchalant responses from the dealer AND VW's corporate Instagram help chat were alarming and inappropriate.

I was arriving for an appointment and preparing to parallel park on the street. I was parking on a street in front of the office building, which is located on a corner. I observed the second and third vehicles parked from the corner were preparing to depart. I moved my vehicle slightly to the shoulder and activated my blinker to wait for the vehicles to leave. I idled next to the car parked at the corner to allow room for the departing vehicles to exit and for myself to pull in. Both vehicles pulled out of their parking spaces and into the street. I then proceeded to accelerate to pull into a parking spot. As two spots had opened, it was large enough for me to pull in forward without needing to parallel park by backing in. As I started to pull in, the vehicle’s automatic emergency braking system malfunctioned and erroneously engaged the brakes with violent force. An alarm sounded in the vehicle, a red warning flashed on the screen, and I was launched violently forward in my seat. The force with which the vehicle stopped made it seem as though I had hit something hard, like a wall. I quickly put the vehicle in park -- only halfway pulled into the parking spot -- and exited the vehicle to survey the situation. After circling the vehicle, it was clear that nothing had been hit and there were no obstructions in the road whatsoever. I returned to the driver’s seat and resumed parking. After pulling into the space, I put the vehicle into reverse to straighten out. Again, the vehicle’s braking system engaged without reason, though this time less violently and without the sound alarm and red warning. After parking, I exited the vehicle and took photographs of the area to document that there were no obstructions or anything else in the environment that would cause the system to believe there was an obstruction. Due to the malfunction, I sustained injuries consistent with whiplash -- pain, tightness, and inflammation along the left side of my neck and left shoulder.

Car has been in and out of various VW dealers since purchase at the end of August 2023. Car was purchased new. Immediately began receiving emergency “stop driving vehicle” messages on driver display. VW on call service advised if the car drives, I can operate it and no further action is necessary. Various Electical errors including charge 12V battery, infotainment screen going black or resetting while driving, no display while in reverse, car losing power on highway, car alarm going off while driving, if hazard lights are used, they do not shut off unless the car is off and driver is out of the car for at least ten minutes, interior lights flash on and off (this is a safety issue as is if incredibly difficult to see while driving at night, car has been in shop three times for this, no repairs, the car battery drains incredibly quickly; usually get about 2kWh in town driving, charging errors; charger not recognized, or car displays it is charging, but when complete, it didn’t charge, windows don’t respond to the controls, door handles don’t always work to open the doors; often have to access the car from passenger side (these have been replaced and still don’t work), emergency braking system doesn’t function, car ghost breaks (no objects ahead, clean sensors, driving and brakes slam on), multiple leaks in vehicle including headlights, rear driver tail light, and the light on top of the back hatch, car loses connection to emergency system, infotainment screen doesn’t respond to finger touches and must be reset, to initiate OTA updates, fuse needs to be pulled. I barely drive the car, and it’s my only vehicle. It’s not safe (lighting issues ongoing, alarms, safety features don’t work, can’t get into the car) and not reliable for travel as charging is hit or miss (at commercial charging stations and home charging station), and the battery life is extremely short, even in perfect conditions using cruise control in eco mode, the car only travels about 130 miles.

Potential undercounting of safety defects through Volkswagen’s no-DTC/no-repair process. I recently located and reviewed a video recorded on February 18, 2025. It was originally made to document a remote climate-control malfunction, not a GPS problem. While reviewing it because of recurring GPS and SOS failures, I noticed that the same video also captured an incorrect speed-limit display. While traveling south on US-29/Columbia Pike near Greencastle Road, the vehicle was traveling at 53 mph with cruise control set at 55 mph. Google Maps displayed a 55-mph speed limit while the Volkswagen instrument cluster displayed 35 mph. My 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 remains under warranty. I have taken it to Volkswagen dealers four times for recurring GPS-location, SOS/emergency-communication, and connected-services failures. No permanent repair was completed. Dealers told me that because no relevant diagnostic trouble code was stored, they could not replace a component or perform another repair without Volkswagen authorization. During another failure, when the SOS indicator was not illuminated, I pressed the service-call button. The call did not connect. The system announced vehicle coordinates, but they were incorrect. This raises concern that inaccurate location information could be provided during an emergency if the SOS system relies on the same data. A Volkswagen TAC case was opened, but there was no meaningful progress or documented repair. After escalation, the SOS indicator and some functions appeared to return without an explanation of what action had been performed. The GPS later became inaccurate again. The SOS light remains illuminated, but Volkswagen has not verified the emergency-location function or identified the root cause. My concern is that Volkswagen’s no-DTC repair requirement leaves an observable, recurring safety defect unrepaired and may prevent these events from becoming completed warranty claims or being recognized as part of a broader defect pattern.

On August 23, 2024, the car was parked at our home and turned off. It was not connected to the charger. At around 7:25pm Pacific time, I got into the driver's seat, closed the door, and depressed the brake pedal so I could put the car into Drive. While my foot was still on the brake, and the car was still in Park, the car lurched forward towards my husband, who was standing in front of the car. The car moved forward in a fast, jerking movement, less than 2 feet, before stopping on its own. My husband quickly moved to the other side of the alley way. Both console screens went black. I still never took my foot off the brake for fear that it would lurch forward again. I picked up my phone to film the screens to see if they would put up an error message or warning light. Just before I started filming the dashboard, the screen above the steering wheel came back on, but acted weird, with the gears disappearing from the right side of the screen completely around 12 second into the video. You can see in the video that I tried to put the car into gear, but as I move the gear shifter through the various gears it does nothing. My foot remained on the brake pedal the entire time up until the moment you see in the video, when I took my foot off of the brake and the car "restarted" itself, allowing me to get it into a gear again. My husband, or anyone else nearby, would have been severely injured if they had been standing closer to the vehicle when it lurched forward. I took the car to Santa Cruz Volkswagen to be inspected for this issue on 9/3/24. I provided them a detailed description and the video I took, but they were unable to duplicate it. Based on the many other issues I’ve had with this car prior, I believe a combination of faulty electronics, manufacturing defects, and buggy software may have caused this incident. (I uploaded a PDF of service records for this issue from dealer, but could not upload the video: it's 10.3mb MP4 file, which I'm happy to provide if possible.)

POWER TRAIN,ELECTRICAL SYSTEM

Government / agencyIndexed Oct 9, 2026Source-linkedVerify source — NHTSA complaint #11710289

I am reporting a potential safety-related defect involving the high-voltage battery system and associated diagnostic software in a 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 Pro S AWD. The vehicle has experienced abnormal battery behavior, including accelerated degradation and confirmed system faults affecting battery management, charging, and vehicle communication. An independent EV diagnostic test shows the high-voltage battery at approximately 91% state of health, representing about 9% degradation in under two years of normal use. The testing facility stated this rate of degradation is abnormal for the vehicle’s age, where typical expectations would be significantly lower. In addition, vehicle diagnostics show confirmed and recurring fault codes involving critical systems, including the CAN Gateway (inter-module communication), the high-voltage battery charger/battery management interface, and the emergency call and communication module. These faults are repeatedly logged as “confirmed” and “test failed since last DTC clear,” indicating persistent system-level issues rather than intermittent events. These systems are responsible for battery condition reporting, charging control, communication between vehicle control modules, and safety/telemetry functions. Limitations or failures in these systems raise concerns that battery condition and integrity may not be accurately detected or reported to the driver. Volkswagen dealerships have declined to perform the definitive manufacturer-certified battery capacity test, stating it will not be authorized unless battery capacity is already below warranty thresholds. As a result, more accurate and intrusive testing is unavailable due to manufacturer policy rather than lack of concern. I am also aware of an independent investigation released in January 2026 documenting production-related battery cell defects in Volkswagen Group MEB vehicles from model years 2021–2023, involving increased battery self-discharge and diagnostic measures that may

I am submitting this complaint as a follow-up to three prior NHTSA complaints regarding this same vehicle: Complaint #11714848 (submitted 2/1/2026) Complaint #11714852 (submitted 2/1/2026) Complaint #11716040 (submitted 2/5/2026) These prior complaints document a progression of serious electrical, charging, and vehicle control issues that have worsened over time. Initially, the vehicle experienced widespread software and electrical failures affecting core driving and safety systems, including loss of power while driving, unintended system activation, blank instrument displays, and failure of safety-related features such as the SOS emergency system. These issues escalated to include severe charging system failures, inability to reliably charge the vehicle, dramatically reduced range, and intermittent propulsion loss. On February 4, 2026, the vehicle became completely inoperable, displaying multiple critical warnings including “Drive system error,” “Electrical system not working correctly,” and inability to start or move the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealership on February 5, 2026 for repair. I have now been informed by both Volkswagen and the dealership that they have been unable to identify or implement a repair for these issues. Despite this, they plan to return the vehicle to me without performing any substantive repairs. I have been told that diagnostic fault codes have been cleared and that the vehicle is now considered “safe” to drive. However, no root cause has been identified, and no repairs have been made to correct the underlying defects that led to loss of power, system failures, and complete inoperability. The issues previously reported remain unresolved and include: Loss of power while driving Dashboard and infotainment displays going blank while driving Vehicle shifting into park unexpectedly Cruise control activating without driver input Charging system failures preventing reliable charging Repeated warnings indicating unsafe oper

The infotainment system in my Volkswagen ID.4 is experiencing intermittent failures while driving. The issue primarily affects the vehicle’s connectivity with my mobile phone (Apple CarPlay / Android Auto), music playback, and the use of navigation applications such as Google Maps. In several instances, the central display has also gone completely black, temporarily becoming unresponsive without warning. The affected component is the vehicle’s digital infotainment system, including the central touchscreen, Bluetooth connectivity, and multimedia and navigation functions. This system is available for inspection upon request. While driving, the system randomly disconnects from my phone, which interrupts Google Maps navigation, music playback, and other phone-based functions. This is particularly concerning because I rely on Google Maps for daily navigation, as the vehicle’s built-in navigation system is not sufficiently accurate or reliable. In my experience, the factory navigation does not provide strong real-time traffic detail and sometimes routes me through significantly longer or less efficient paths. The only advantage of the built-in navigation system is that it displays information on the driver’s head-up/front display, which Google Maps does not support. These failures create a potential safety risk, as the sudden loss of navigation while driving can lead to distraction when attempting to reconnect the phone or restore system functionality. Additionally, interruptions in audio guidance and the occurrence of a completely black screen may further affect driving focus. The issue occurs intermittently and has happened multiple times during normal vehicle operation. It is not consistently reproducible. To date, the vehicle has not been inspected by a dealership, the manufacturer, police, or any insurance representatives in relation to this issue. In most cases, there are no prior warning lights or messages; the system simply disconnects or the display goes bla

My primary safety complaint is that the automatic emergency-call function failed during an actual airbag-deployment collision even though the SOS indicator was green and appeared to show that the system was operational. The vehicle is a 2023 Volkswagen ID.4, VIN [XXX]. On XXX, at approximately 8:04 a.m., while traveling southbound on Columbia Pike near Trader Joe’s, the vehicle was involved in a collision that deployed the airbags. The vehicle automatically initiated the emergency-call sequence but announced words to the effect of, “Your call cannot be completed.” The Montgomery County Police Department investigated the collision under Incident Number XXX. Fortunately, a passerby witnessed the collision and assistance was available. Without that person, emergency assistance could have been delayed, increasing the risk of serious harm. An injured, disoriented, trapped, or unconscious occupant may not be able to locate a phone and call [XXX]. The vehicle had a prior history of recurring GPS, SOS, and connected-services failures. It was presented to authorized Volkswagen dealers four times while under warranty, and a Volkswagen TAC case was opened, but no root cause or permanent repair was documented. Shortly after Volkswagen was notified that a lemon-law filing would proceed, the GPS, green SOS indicator, and some connected functions appeared to return for about two days without any explanation of a repair, software update, reset, remote action, or configuration change. The GPS then became inaccurate again, while the SOS indicator remained green. I request that NHTSA investigate why the indicator remained green when the automatic crash call could not connect, whether Volkswagen verifies actual voice and location functionality before displaying the green indicator, and whether affected vehicles require a safety recall or other corrective action. The complete statement and supporting evidence are attached as Exhibit 0. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INF

We bought our car in April, 2024 from Wellesley Volkswagen, [XXX] . The car has a problem with the windshield wiper Control (safety standard 101?). The car’s windshield wiper stalk is on the right side of the steering wheel. Moving the stalk up or down activates the front wipers. Pulling the stalk will activate the front wiper washer. Pushing the stalk away will activate the rear wiper and washer. Moving the stalk up from the off position will provide 1 wipe. Moving the stalk down from the neutral position will first activate rain sensing/interval wiping then slow continuous wiping and finally fast continuous wiping. There is also slider button on the stalk to vary the sensitivity of the rain sensing/ interval wiping mode. The first wiping position can be configured to operate at either interval wiping or rain sensing through the car’s customization setting (screen interface). We have the wipers set for rain sensing. The rain sensing is triggered by the stalk being in the first position and rain being “seen” by the sensor (camera) at the top center of the windshield. The slider adjusts the sensitivity so that it activates occasionally or aggressively depending on the rain level and the driver’s preference. From the time we bought the car to present day, we find the rain sensing will not work about 25% of the time: the wipers will not turn on when in the sensing position and it is raining. On one recent occasion during a light rain, the wipers went on full speed in the sensing position, and I had to move the stalk to the 2nd position (continuous slow wiping). There was nothing blocking the sensor which would cause this behavior. After a couple minutes I move it back to the sensing position and the sensing performed normally. I brought it to the dealer’s attention a few times over the past 2 years, but made them officially write it up and check on how to fix this at the April 13, 2026, 2nd year service with no resolution. RE: Case No: [XXX]- VIN: [XXX] Consumer: [XXX] & [XXX] Manufacturer: Volkswagen/Audi of America, INC Semi-Autonomous Stop/Go and Adaptive Speed Technology To All Concerned: My take on the following is that not automatically resuming adaptive cruise control after a lengthy stop or if the driver is looking away from the road is the choice. Just broaching the subject of Evaluating Semi-Autonomous Stop/Go and Adaptive Speed Technology indicates they have reason to investigate. Evaluating Semi-Autonomous Stop/Go and Adaptive Speed Technology Insurance Institute for Highway Safety The IIHS outlines the full list of criteria that qualifies a vehicle for a good rating: •Monitors both the driver’s gaze and hand position •Uses multiple types of rapidly escalating alerts to get the driver’s attention •Employs a fail-safe procedure to slow the vehicle, notify the manufacturer and keep automation off limits for the remainder of the drive •Requires automated lane changes to be initiated or confirmed by the driver •Does not automatically resume adaptive cruise control after a lengthy stop or if the driver is looking away from the road •Does not discourage steering by the driver while lane-centering •Prohibits automation features if the seat belt is unfastened •Prohibits automation features if automatic emergency braking or lane departure prevention and warning systems are disabled Not terminating Semi-Autonomous Stop/Go and Adaptive Speed Technology upon manual braking creates an unsafe condition. I am still including this page simply because it reinforces the primary fact that Semi-Autonomous Stop/Go and Adaptive Speed Technology offers different programing related to resetting/reactivating the Semi-Autonomous Stop/Go and Adaptive Speed Technology. I am submitting a safety complaint regarding my 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 AWD Pro S, VIN [XXX] , which is subject to Manufacturer Recall No. 93EA / NHTSA Recall No. 26V030, issued on January 21, 2026. According to the recall, in rare circumstances, the high-voltage battery modules may experience thermal propagation, possibly resulting in a vehicle fire. The recall further states that customers may experience loss of range and/or performance if the recall condition exists in the vehicle. The stated safety risk is that the vehicle may catch fire due to battery-related thermal propagation. I brought the vehicle to an authorized Volkswagen dealership for diagnosis and warranty/recall repair after learning of the recall. However, nearly two months after the recall was issued, the remedy is still not available. As a result, I remain in possession of and am expected to continue using a vehicle that is subject to a serious fire-related safety recall, without any available repair to correct the defect. This creates an ongoing safety concern. I do not feel safe continuing to drive or park the vehicle because of the possibility of a battery fire. My concern is heightened as warmer weather approaches, because heat may increase battery-related fire risks. Even if the event is described as rare, a fire risk involving a high-voltage battery is serious and presents an unacceptable safety concern for me as the driver and for others around the vehicle. The manufacturer has acknowledged the defect through the recall, but has not made a timely remedy available. I am asking NHTSA to note that consumers are being left without a repair for a serious recalled safety defect for an extended period of time. Vehicle information: •Year/Make/Model: 2023 Volkswagen ID.4 AWD Pro S •VIN: [XXX] •Purchase/Lease Type: Leased •Delivery Date: December 7, 2023 •Recall Number: Volkswagen 93EA / NHTSA 26V030 I presented the vehicle to for repair, but no remedy is available INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE F

I left my office at about [XXX] on [XXX] Thursday for home, traffic was moderate, approaching the long weekend. I reached home at 5:29 pm, opened the garage and started parking the vehicle inside the car. All of a sudden, the car just took off and randomly accelerated and the next thing I found was that the vehicle landed and stopped right inside the house on the small island by the garage entrance, which is about 9” higher than garage floor, into the house with the front metal door and right side of the wall and bathroom door all shattered in front! On my left, I saw my wife in (by kitchen stove) in total panic and my [XXX] mother- in- law shouting to my wife. “What happened?!”, and my [XXX] grandson crying and closing his ears from the loud sound! Instinctively, as I realized I would not be able to exit the vehicle from where it was lodged, I reversed the vehicle back into garage where I could come out. As I switched into reverse gear (which this vehicle requires you to press the brake to be able to switch from drive to reverse), the vehicle again just accelerated with force. This time, damaging the garbage can in the garage, left garage door vertical track, drywall and outside brick wall, as the brakes were not engaging. If I had not steered my car right or left, I would have landed in the living room of the house across the street. Therefore, I steered to the right to remain on the street (in hindsight, this may not have been the best choice – in case there was another vehicle or resident walking on the street). As my vehicle was in reverse, going towards the street perpendicular to mine, it knocked down the street sign pole onto my property, ran over the curb, grass, and landscaping stones on my lawn. Finally, the vehicle stopped two feet away from my living room window and 3-4 feet above street level, under a tree on my front lawn, crashing against a big landscaping rock. When the vehicle stopped, it took me at least 30 seconds to rea INFORMATION REDACTED PURS

Vehicle of Issue ID-4 2023 Vin # [XXX] As Reported to VW Customer Support 04/18/2023 The vehicle has a very dangerous problem, being the driver's seat Sensor. The Sensor triggers the Vehicle into park with a slight shift of body weight. This situation was not explained to me by the Dealership Sales Team. This has happened several times. Twice while backing up, as I went to look along side of the driver's door area to check clearance and the car jumped into park. The door was closed and slightly twisted left to view the area. Again as I approached a stop sign, I shifted my self to adjust the seat belt, another time as I was adjusting my pants it went into park. The latest incident caused an Accident. The accident occurred as I was going through a Car Wash. I shifted my weight to get my hand into my pocket to return my credit card and the car jumped into park. That caused the vehicle to jump into park in the middle of the Car Wash resulting in the vehicle behind me to strike my rear tailgate. North Port Police were called and recorded an incident report because it was on private property. The car wash declines responsibility. This is not a good safety feature, it is an unrealistic expectation of the consumer to sit perfectly still while driving. Will this happen at a higher speed???__________ Do all VW Vehicles have the same Seat Sensor (Issues)???__________ I brought the Car In for service 04/17/2023 asking the sensor be checked or for a Software change or an adjustment to the Seat Sensor to be changed to a different weight threshold or HAVE the sensor disabled. Sunset VW of Sarasota would not do any diagnostic without a VW Customer Support approval because an accident was involved. On 04/20/2023 VW Customer Support will not acknowledge or authorize a Investigative Service on this seat sensor issue. They said it was my fault the seat sensor triggers the car to jump into park This is not a normal characteristic for any vehicle. INFORMATION Redacted PURSUANT TO THE FRE
